The First 100 Days Plan
Every #NewJoinee or new promotion or change in career trajectory should be backed up by a #100DaysPlan
If you are taking up a new job or a new role or relocated to a new country in a new role with completely new set of people around you, you got to read this.
Recently, all of the above happened to a few people I have known. With 2 of them, I had a conversation wherein they actually asked me in my capacity of a coach, what would I recommend they do in the new 'space' they were in ...
I gave them a reference of the 'First 100 Days' concept (sometimes also called the First 90 days since that coincides with a quarter of 3 months) and often is the length of the probation or half the probation period (in which case, this might a review milestone).
You need to be mentally prepared while transitioning into a new Role / Job ... especially if its a Leadership role.
So here is my recipe for the New Joinees :)
1. Understand the expectations from the Role and from YOU in the role. This helps you fix some goals to achieve in short and long term.

2. Understand the context of the expectation and the organizational context. Talk to as many people possible and look at what the organization has been going through over past few years. Talk to outgoing role holder if possible.
3. Make your 100 days plan - what how when - of what you can feasibly achieve. However fuzzy or vague or ballpark or guesstimate based it might be. Have a Plan.
4. Share your 100 days plan with relevant select few stakeholders and seek help from them (adding the 'who' and enhancing the 'what, how, when'). This includes identifying some mentors around who can help you navigate in the new place/role.
5. Buckle up and 'enjoy' the roller coaster joy ride, celebrating the achievements and learnings from each week :)
All the Best !
The above can be and should be done by any person at any level taking up a new role. It gets more and more crucial and critical as your seniority rises since the stakes go higher and higher.
