The Fish Who Ate Shawarma
#LoveLetter 027
First of all, if you have seen any fish who eats shawarma, we need to talk. Send me a dm asap on Linkedin.
Anyway, this week, something happened that made me remember something else that happened last year, and I'll be giving you the entire gist.
I'll be very open and a little bit vulnerable in this Love letter so read till the end. I will also show you a flaw I made last year.
The Full Gist
Last Year, I started an initiative to help young people make the most of their youth season. I called it "Maximize your Youth Season with Haoma" I basically started it to connect young people who want to be successful to other young people who are already successful.
It would interest you to know that I am still building that community till today. Currently, we are about 285 members on the platform. (Remember I said I opened up the community last year)
Here comes the shocker
Yesterday, I started a LinkedIn Consistency Challenge where I would be telling the community members what to post for the next 20 days and how to post it.
Guess how many members joined in less than two days?
A whooping 655 people. Like 655 in less than two days?
Now you may say,
Haoma calm your nerves, those people only joined because it was free. Remember, the first community I built was also free, and we aren't yet up to 500, and we've been on for months.
Today, I want to expose you to what I call
The Power of giving worms to Fish and not Shawarma
See, any fisherman that goes to the sea with the best shawarma in Lagos will come back with an empty net. No matter how sweet the shawarma is.😂😂
But the one who goes with worm would get the fishes cat walking(swimming) to him/her.🌝🌝
This was exactly why I was able to build a 655+ member community in two days opposed to struggling with a 285+ member community for months.
The 655 community gave the audience worm. They had the challenge of creating LinkedIn content and they needed help. I provided help, and they followed me.
It's that Simple
Mind you, the other community of 285 members also provided help but I believe the help from the second one(655 members) was clearer, making the worm sweeter to the fish.

I need you to ask yourself this question.
What am I giving to the audience (fish) I want to attract?
Am I giving them shawarma or worms?
And If I am giving worm, How sweet is my worm?
Now, why exactly would a living thing like a fish be interested in something like worms?
Why some people joined my Linkedin Consistency challenge because they needed to get rid of the pain of not knowing what to post on LinkedIn,
Others joined because they just wanted a sense of community. Nothing more, nothing less. They basically just want to feel among. People were joining, so they didn't want to be left out.
Now as a business owner, content creator, employee, or whatever you are.....
Do you know the kind of feeling your audience longs to have?
Do you know what is currently a major pain point in their lives?
Find these two things and then feed them with "Worms" (please not real worms o). That's the key to increasing your Impact, Influence and Income. It's also the reason some people can never be broke.
This right here is the reason why people aren't buying enough from you as much as you want or recruiting you.
You are giving them Shawarma instead of Worms

2yThe headline shock me too. How can a fish eat shawarma 🤣🤣 Nice one Haoma Worgwu . I really enjoyed and learned from this. It's as I always say... "If you want to catch a fish...you don't give it biscuit"...but you turn am to shawarma 😂
