Five African Players to Watch in the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A in 2025

2025 is set to be a banger of a year for the following five African Players in the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A in 2025.

Ademola Lookman (Nigeria), Atalanta

The Nigerian striker enjoyed a fantastic 2024 – punctuated by a hat-trick in the UEFA Europa League final – but 2025 could turn out to be even better for the 27-year-old London-born Atalanta attacker, as he looks to help his club challenge for the Serie A title, as well as being in the race to win the top scorers’ prize in Italy, known as the ‘Capocannoniere’.

Inaki Williams (Ghana), Athletico Bilbao

One of Athletic Bilbao’s most consistent attacking players, Ghanaian Inaki Williams will be looking to help the Basque club climb the La Liga table in 2025. The 30-year-old has made over 400 appearances for ‘The Lions’ since debuting back in late 2014 and has firmly established himself as a club legend – with more to come from the forward, who also has 21 Ghana caps to his name.

Bryan Mbuemo (Cameroon), Brentford

The biggest compliment one could pay to Cameroonian forward Bryan Mbuemo is to say that Brentford have not missed Ivan Toney at all. The 25-year-old French-born player is set to have his most prolific goal scoring season at the top level, and has evolved his all-round game to the point that a transfer to one of the Premier League’s heavyweight clubs seems not only likely, but an inevitability.

Mohamed Salah (Egypt), Liverpool

The Egyptian attacker is in the midst of yet another prolific season for Liverpool, firing them toward the Premier League title in manager Arne Slot’s first campaign in charge. If Salah does indeed leave ‘The Reds’ in mid-2025, as has been strongly speculated, then a brilliant last campaign and a second Premier League trophy in his time at the club would be the perfect goodbye.

Andre Franck Zambo Anguissa (Cameroon), Napoli

The hard-running Cameroonian has become one of Napoli manager Antonio Conte’s most trusted lieutenants – a huge compliment given how demanding the fiery tactician can be. Anguissa’s outstanding combination of technique and physicality has become a fulcrum for a Partenopei team chasing a second Serie A title in the space of three seasons.
