Five Bite-Sized Pimento Cheese Facts

Five Bite-Sized Pimento Cheese Facts

The main food item associated with the Masters Tournament is the Pimento Cheese Sandwich, a cheese spread on white bread that has been a must-have once on the grounds or when celebrating the Tournament.

A Tasty Tradition

Pimento Cheese sandwiches, made in the Augusta-Aiken area, have been served at the Masters since at least the 1960s.

Bargain In A Bag

The cost is $1.50, sharing a spot with the Egg Salad Sandwich as the lowest priced sandwich on the Masters menu.

Delicious Design

The sandwich is served in a green plastic bag, headlined by the Masters logo, the sandwich name, “Pimento Cheese” and “Made Fresh Daily” at the bottom with the detailed ingredients on the backside.

Crafty Creations

Some patrons have been known to combine the sandwich with other sandwiches on the menu and to include potato chips within the bread. Fans at home have also experimented with a grilled pimento cheese sandwich and panini press.

Extra Cheese

There is a new cousin on the menu this year, Cheese Straws, a Southern tradition dating back to the 1880s.

Match that with a hot cup of tomato soup this year with drop in temperature and rain! Any way you decide, nothing beats either of those 2 sandwiches!
