According to U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek Murthy, the most important asset in any organization is the people. This is something I wholeheartedly agree with.
He encourages everyone to invest in mental health and well-being, especially in the workplace.
Every leader should follow his framework. As Surgeon General, he is aware that our work has both positive and negative effects on our health. According to recent surveys, 84% of respondents said their work environment contributed to their mental health issues.
In addition to contributing to those issues, the pandemic brought them into sharper focus. Today, Dr. Murthy is insisting leaders promote well-being in the workplace, show workers that they matter, that their work matters, and give them the resources and support they need.
