Five-Star Romance on a McDonald's Budget!

Date Night, the Self-Care edition

Hear-ye, hear-ye, harken onto me, oh lovely ones!

HEY, YOU LISTEN UP!

As Valentine's day approached, my friend K kept singing Valentine is Coming. Well, regardless of whether you had a valentine or not. You've got to love yourself first. So, I created this Five Star Romance on a McDonald's Budget experience, ready to go at a moment's notice! Read it, and weep with joy. Seriously, take a few hours to appreciate yourself. Happy belated love yourself day!

Welcome to Chez Moi for Party of ONE!

  1. Set the scene: Ambiance is everything! Dim the lights, light candles and play romantic music. Solo doesn't mean you can't play a little something-something, grab a pillow, and take yourself for a swing around your living room. Got a roommate or family in your space trying to cramp your style? WHO CARES. Take them by the hand and doe-see-doe them for a spin or two, then get back to romancing yourself!
  2. Use your best dinnerware and set the table or meal tray with care. Create a warm and cozy environment that will make you feel like ROYALTY. My friend Nick said, why save fine china only for special guests? Who is more special than you? NOBODY! Break out the fine china, even if it is a second-hand chipped mug and a Dollar Store plate.
  3. Cook like a pro: Impress yourself with a delicious and romantic dinner that will tantalize your taste buds. For a quick 20-minute recipe, consider making pasta. Dress it up or down. It's perfect for a cozy night's meal. You don't eat pasta--- you are a vegan, vegetarian, meat-a-tarian, whatever your flavour. Grill it, fry it, boil it, flip it or drip it in your flavour-ite sauce. BAM Chef Emeril would be jealous of your culinary skills.
  4. Play to impress: Grab a pack of cards, play Klondike, Seahaven towers, or Pyramid/Pile of 28. If you are anything like me and the millions of people missing a card or two from our mental deck of cards. A full stack isn't necessary to get a good laugh, so pick your game and ENJOY IT!
  5. Get daring: If your self-love and appreciation game is on point, heck, even if it is off point, it doesn't matter; add this daring activity to show off your spontaneous side. Sit in front of a mirror and tell yourself how fantastic you are. LOW SELF-ESTEEM, NOT TONIGHT! Sit with the discomfort and big yourself up. We all know how difficult it is to ADULT! Some mornings, getting out of bed, brushing your teeth, and moving are the world's biggest wins. You are a rockstar, a King or Queen. You are getting life done your way. CELEBRATE YOUR WINS and AWESOMENESS!
  6. Wrap up the night by cherishing your own company: Cuddle up with yourself (if you have someone, well, I guess they could work in a pinch), meditate on your greatness, and, most importantly, make self-care and self-love a priority that will last a lifetime. SIZZLE, SIZZLE, YOU'RE AMAZING!!!!

In the iconic words of Snoop Dogg

"I want to thank me for believing in me. I want to thank me for doing all this hard work. I wanna thank me for having no days off. I wanna thank me for never quitting. I wanna thank me for always being a giver and trying to give more than I receive. I wanna thank me for trying to do more right than wrong. I wanna thank me for being me at all times, Snoop Dogg you a bad motherf**ker,"

And so are you!

Look at yourself in the mirror and read it out loud.

"I want to thank me for believing in me, I want to thank me for doing all this hard work. I wanna thank me for having no days off. I wanna thank me for never quitting. I wanna thank me for always being a giver and trying to give more than I receive. I wanna thank me for trying to do more right than wrong. I wanna thank me for being me at all times, -YOUR NAME- you are FAN-TAB-U-LO-US*."
