🎥 Five Videos Ideas for Your Business

In social media world, they say that content is fire. Then that means that video is like pouring on a gallon of gasoline! I feel like we’ve been talking about the effectiveness of video content for social media since 2017 and yet many businesses and brands are not utilizing this medium.

People are still using busy-looking graphics, long-form text posts and boring hyperlinks. It’s time to overcome your fear and step out of your content-creating comfort zone and start filming videos.

Do you need a fancy camera and a large budget? No.

Do you need a script and a teleprompter? No.

Do you need a producer, an actor and a high-end video production company? No.

All you need is a mobile device and a message to share with your audience. If you’re stuck on what that message should be and what exactly you should “say” on camera, we’ve got you covered.

Turn your phone around, hit record and try any of these five video ideas for your business or brand.

  1. Share Your Story. No not the whole novel but if this is your first time making a video, introduce yourself and talk about why you’re doing what you do to help people. For me, I’d say something along the lines of, “Hi, my name is Chris Norris and I quit my corporate job so I could work more closely with clients and community members to help them succeed using social media.” Humans are interesting and other humans like to learn more about one another. Don’t be afraid to share a bit about yourself which in turn, will help to humanize and personalize your brand.
  2. Share a Story. This time, it’s not about you, it’s about your customer! Record a short video highlighting a success story from one of your customers and how you helped them. Start with the problem they were experiencing and what you did to provide a solution. The goal here is to make the person watching the video instantly relate to the person you helped so that he or she can envision the same success for themselves after working with you. For example, I may film myself talking about a small business owner who felt overwhelmed by social media until Revox simplified the process for them. Bonus points if you can interview a happy customer on camera.
  3. Take Us Behind the Scenes. Like I mentioned earlier, humans are naturally interested in other humans. Why do you think we aimlessly scroll social media for hours on end? So we can see what our friends are doing! Film a short video showing your customers what you do behind the scenes of your business. It is likely that people only experience the “finished product” of what you do, why not show them a bit about what goes into the process? For Revox, that could mean filming a short BTS video of how we prep for a social media strategy session with our clients. Then, once the client is up and running with their new social media strategy, they can look back and see the labor of love that went into the process. Don’t overthink or worry about your video being interesting or exciting. People will appreciate the transparent and personal perspective you provide.
  4. Answer FAQs. Start by writing down between three and five of the most commonly asked questions from your customers and prospective customers. Then, hit that record button on your mobile device or camera and answer those questions in-depth for your audience. By doing this, you’re not only answering the same FAQs from your website but you’re adding a personal touch to the process while also positioning yourself as the guide to the customer’s journey. For the sake of example, I could consider going on Facebook Live and doing a brief video answering questions about which social media platforms businesses should be using as well as how Revox can help them.
  5. Promote Your Product or Service. It’s by design that the final video idea for your business is a video about promoting your business. Why? Because the other 4 videos (80%) were engaging and added value to the feeds of your followers. Remember to always deposit more than you withdraw as it pertains to your social media content but in this final video idea, go ahead and make a withdraw! This can be a video announcing a new service you’re offering or a sneak peek at a new product soon to be launched. Don’t hesitate to make a soft sell here and provide a clear call to action throughout the video. Revox recently created a video to promote our new video creation services by sharing three reasons why we started making videos for our clients. How can you use video to promote your business?

These are five basic video ideas to get you started with the goal of motivating you to create more video content.
