Is the Flu Shot a Good Idea in 2020?
Ok, first my own bias. I have never been a fan of the flu shot. I understand how viruses work and know that if I take incredible care of my own immunity, my risk of sickness will be minimal, and if I do get sick, the detoxing effect of the virus will be beneficial.
A flu vaccine is
A study published in Science Direct in 2017 showed that when a person receives the influenza vaccine, the following year their risk of infection from Corona and 6 other Respiratory infecting viruses goes up.
If you get exposed to a genuine influenza and get sick, you develop what can be described as a transverse immunity, a very broad immunity that guards you against multiple similar viruses, including Corona Virus. It is as if you are building an immune system intelligence.
With a vaccine, you are exposed to an abnormal protein within the flu virus and your body mounts what could at best be called an awkward and limited immune response. You are not getting the "herd immunity" that comes from a genuine infection.
But further still, even more shocking results emerge.
A study by Anderson and colleagues, published this year in the Annals of Internal Medicine show that there was no effect by the flu vaccine on morbidity (170 million Hospitalizations) or mortality (7.6 million deaths) from a 2000-2014 study in the UK. Basically, this study reveals that getting a vaccine in an attempt to prevent seasonal flu is probably no better than backing a slow horse.
Yet, the belief about flu vaccines has been so ingrained into the population that anyone who chooses to not have it gets frowned upon as being weird or some kind of anti-vaxer. But in reality, I think many people in the world have never felt fully comfortable receiving these vaccines.
Don't forget that there are powerful economic forces driving mass vaccination. Whilst most drugs must go through at least 5 years of trials before being approved, vaccines escape that restriction.
I share this because I feel that a company sanctioning vaccines could actually be placing themselves at risk. Knowing there is strong evidence that these vaccines are not really effective, and that strong evidence exists of an increased risk of Corona Virus infection, can you safely mandate that your employees should be vaccinated, I have a sense that there is a risk here that has no been fully evaluated at this time.
Of course, you could just get to and show your people how to build powerful immunity.

4yJohn, I don’t wish to take the vaccine but unfortunately it is mandatory to have the vaccine to be able to visit my elderly grandparent in a nursing home, which I feel is very unfair regulation the government has imposed.

4yThere are things to consider before getting the flu vaccine. The welfare of others you may come into contact with, or be a transmission path to and your obligations to the community. Unless there is a medical reason for not getting the flue shot, failing to do so simply demonstrates an unacceptable I"m alright Jack, stuff the rest of you attitude.
