Summary: GlobalTech Manufacturing, a leading consumer electronics company, faced stagnant profitability despite rising revenues. Traditional costing methods failed to reveal the true cost-to-serve of each customer, leading to inefficiencies like misaligned incentives, underestimated service costs, and poorly allocated resources.
To tackle this, GlobalTech embraced managerial costing causality models and business intelligence and analytics (BI&A) tools. By mapping cost drivers, developing accurate cost models, and integrating these insights into decision-making, the company discovered that high-revenue customers were not always the most profitable.

📖 Law #1 – An organization will win a lot of business when it gives away the things it does, but it will not win much business when it charges customers for things it doesn’t do for them.
📖 Law #2 – Cost does not determine price; the market determines price. Cost determines whether or not a company wants to sell at the market price.
📖 Law #3 – Any costs that are not assigned to products or services actually are assigned to them as a percentage of those costs that have been assigned.
