“The focus is on making cities more liveable. Modular solutions are very helpful for that."

Welcome to the Parkly Place Ideas Newsletter! Each month, we curate ideas, inspiration, and insights for those passionate about urban development, fostering more welcoming, social, and greener cities. We believe that inspiration propels individuals to reconsider the places, cities, or neighborhoods they engage with or reside in, while sharing knowledge empowers action.

Parkly is teaming up with ZIEGLER to provide its solutions across Germany and Austria.

“Parkly’s products offer an effective means to enhance the appeal of city centers and urban environments with tailored solutions which respond to many needs and bring people together.” says Martina Noack Head of Purchasing / Product Management at ZIEGLER Metallbearbeitung GmbH . Parkly provides solutions for many fields of urbanisation trends in German and Austrian cities, such as sustainable and green urban development, adding more green spaces, creating more mixed used public places and more! The Parkly modular system has numerous add-ons as well, including armrests that are wide enough to hold a cup of coffee.

Children-Centric City Planning for Healthy, Safe, and Joyful Cities for All

Parkly Children's Pop Up Park in Helsinki, commissioned by the city of Helsinki.

The Start with Children – Bratislava Summit (28-29 May 2024) was a dynamic event focused on integrating children’s perspectives into urban planning and community development. Päivi Raivio , co-founder and founding partner of RaivioBumann & Parkly attended the summit and summed up some of the conference highlights in this article, which also features an interview with Gil Penalosa , founder of 8 80 Cities .

"Children are 30% of the population, but 100% of the future" Gil Penalosa

The conference, through its network and alliances, continues, in between events, to frame urban planning in a new way: “We need a better frame than the one we’ve been using, and that new frame is children and families.” Simon Battisti , Creative Director, Start with Children Summit

Mini-health Forest brings Forest at the Heart of Lahti City Centre

This pocket park brings a piece of forest into the center of Lahti and promotes the health forest founded by the city, located about 6 km from the center. The health forest is open to all, with a special focus on nearby hospital patients and staff.

Scents, sounds, cooling and visual impact - the Mini Forest invites people to connect to nature at the heart of the city.

The modular miniforest, with green walls, enlivens the urban space with different pine trees, spruces, birches, lingonberries, and other plants and provides an immersive experience while reminding us of our irreplaceable natural resources.

Did you know, that the modular green wall also alleviates traffic noise up to 7 decibels? To test the effects, sounds measurements were carried out during the pilot project in Helsinki. Read more about the results.

The modular mini forest by InnoGreen and Parkly is commissioned by Lahden kaupunki / City of Lahti .

Meet Us in Rotterdam in September - Placemaking Week 2024 is approaching!

Placemaking Week Europe by Placemaking Europe is Europe’s founding and largest placemaking festival. In the spirit of collaboration and inspiration, over 400 practitioners meet every year to share knowledge, learn and network. Rotterdam will undoubtedly be an inspiring and exemplary city to host the festival.

Placemaking has been at the heart of our practice at RaivioBumann for more than ten years. This approach is also strongly embedded in Parkly's concept and design.

Parkly's founders Daniel Bumann and Päivi Raivio will join the festival again this year and host a session as well — stay tuned for more information in the coming months!
