Fokker 50 Overrun Incident in Comoros

A R'Komor-operated Fokker 50, registration D6-AIB, experienced a runway overrun during a rejected takeoff attempt at Mohéli Bandar Es Salam Airport, Comoros. While attempting to take off from runway 31, the aircraft's crew decided to abort the takeoff at high speed due to unspecified issues, leading to the aircraft overrunning the runway and stopping in surrounding bushes with its right main landing gear collapsed. Aero Commander Crash in Virginia

A twin-engine Rockwell Aero Commander 690A, with registration N690BM, crashed on May 5, 2024, near Palmyra, Virginia, claiming the lives of both occupants. The aircraft, manufactured in 1975 and privately owned, was en route from Manassas Regional Airport, Virginia, to Georgetown Airport, South Carolina, when it crashed into a wooded area. Virginia State Police, alongside the FAA and NTSB, are actively investigating the incident, which occurred under light rain conditions, to determine the cause of the crash. Boeing Advances MUM-T Refueling Software

May 1, 2024 — Boeing has progressed its manned-unmanned teaming technology, integrating the F/A-18 Super Hornet and MQ-25 Stingray to streamline aerial refueling operations. In recent simulations, Boeing demonstrated a digital F/A-18 pilot remotely commanding an MQ-25 to deploy a refueling drogue, utilizing established communication links. This advancement, which aims for future deployment on both Block II and III Super Hornets, marks a significant reduction in communication times between the aircraft, enhancing operational flexibility and readiness for U.S. Navy applications. SARPcheck global aviation safety audit: A wet lease, codeshare, ACMI Booster

SARPcheck is a new global aviation safety audit that assesses airline compliance with select ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) across defined ICAO Annexes. The primary aim of this audit is to enhance global flight safety while providing an affordable and accessible tool to facilitate ACMI, wet lease, and codeshare operations. The ICAO Annexes and SARPs that SARPcheck focuses on are specifically those outlined by regulatory and industry standards, including FAA requirements for overseeing foreign air carriers and the TCO approval elements of EASA.

SARPcheck is governed by a London-based not-for-profit organization, the Safety Audit Review Partnership (SARP Ltd.), which accredits Safety Quality Organizations (SQOs) such as AEROTHRIVE, Aviation Quality Services and WAKE (QA) LIMITED to conduct these audits globally.
