FOOD … the Multi-Dimensional Container of Life

FOOD … the Multi-Dimensional Container of Life

Food … where would we be without it? Dead you say? Of course.

But … what exactly is ‘food’? Is it the things we eat each day, the meat, the vegetables, the junk food? Or is it much more?

Have you really ever given much thought to what food for the body and mind might be, and what knowing this, and making good use of this, could mean in terms of how long, and how well, we live?

So, the question again … what is food?

Across all traditional cultures, food is seen as the Creator and Sustainer of good health, which of course is the foundation of WellBeing.

By contrast, the common belief in western cultures is that food is what is placed on the plate and consumed (through the mouth).

And, sadly part of this perspective is an insufficient placement of attention on the food itself in terms of its source, make-up, preparation, seasonal impact, influence on body system health and so on.

In fact, there are countless diets that suggest specific food combinations that will ‘reduce your weight’.

  • But does losing weight equate to gaining health? Not necessarily.
  • Maybe ‘exercise’ is needing to be added to create this ‘health’. But if so … what exercise, how much, when, and why… or perhaps what if?

In reality, attaining good health, and consequent satisfying and rewarding wellbeing, goes far past the ‘diet and gym’ model we have been taught to accept here in the West.

If so, then, what really is ‘food’?

Is it the source of all energy and drive (or lack of) that sits behind human endeavour at home, work and play? And, is it indeed the source, producer and director of longevity in life?

To answer this is to explore what constitutes ‘food’.

‘FOOD’ … anything that the human body absorbs into the ‘body system’, with the potential to positively or adversely impact on its health and wellbeing, and the longevity of that life itself.

In fact, therefore, food is fundamental to effective and successful human existence.

And this ‘existence’ in living daily life is dependent on the effective employment of the ‘five universal drivers’ behind human cognition and behaviour, as postulated through the 5 Element Theory.

Food, therefore, in all its origins and forms, can be loosely classified into ‘external’ and ‘internal’ inputs for the body’s ability to experience ongoing health.

Food internal to the body includes, but is not necessarily limited to …

  1. Impact of external stressors on body system
  2. Mindset
  3. Emotional framework
  4. Personal energy
  5. Physical make-up from birth

Food external to the body includes, but is not necessarily limited to …

  1. Organic plant material
  2. Meat-based material from land, air and water
  3. Condiments used in the preparation and consumption of plant/animal material
  4. Medicines / supplements
  5. Exercise / movement
  6. Oxygen / air
  7. Environmental toxins and pollutants
  8. Human engagement … cognitive and behavioural connection to stress, excitement, fear, concern, happiness, contentment etc
  9. Relationships with self and others
  10. Home environment and atmosphere
  11. Work place, space and interaction with systems and people

How the body copes with, and employs, these external and internal food sources is based on the individual’s:

Natal Genius … who (and what) they were born to  be… their ‘Constitution’

  • Suite of personal characteristics (eg talents, gifts, strengths, challenges and the like) inherited through genetics and the absorption of the energy surrounding them at that moment of their first independent breath

Manifested Genius … who (and what) they choose to become … their ‘Condition’

  • Developed map of the world based on influences from significant others and events, modelled behaviour, and desire to assimilate with chosen personal environment
  • Lifestyle choices based on past experiences, present adventures and future vision

As such, food can be viewed as the key driver behind an individual’s potential for success, a reflection of their intention to and attention on effectively identifying, addressing and embracing a committed approach to living well and in keeping with their personal Genius (a working combination of their Natal and Manifested Genius).

Food is the mother of life and the father of longevity … the foundation for our ability to live well and long.

  • It is not the body, yet it controls and directs the body.
  • It is not the mind, yet it supplies nourishment for the mind.
  • It is not the emotions, though it enhances the emotions.
  • It is not the surrounding tangible and intangible environment, yet it consumes it and reflects that environment back to the individual as a complete entity.

So, again … what is food?

It is life itself; it is that which supplies the body with the ingredients for life; it is the connection between the’ internal world’ (mind and body) and the ‘external world’ ( life forces impacting on daily life.

It can not, nor ever could be, simply that which we eat to survive.

If this has piqued your interest, made you think more deeply about what you are feeding your body, then we have done our job.

If you take the time to invest in all your food sources then you are doing your job.

So, final question … how well are you feeding ‘you’ each day?
