Thank you for subscribing
I’m completely humbled by the number of friends and colleagues who have subscribed this first month. I want to honor that commitment. While I’ve been knocking out a newsletter for a year now, its content always contains the best of what I see in the marketing space today. I hope you can glean something each month that makes your life a little easier.
That said, if you aren’t doing a newsletter on LinkedIn, maybe now is the time?
Why You Should Consider Writing a Newsletter in LinkedIn
It’s easy
If LinkedIn is where your target audience is, consider the value of a recurring presence.
First off, LinkedIn sends your first issue out to all of your contacts. Everyone who follows you will get an invitation. I expect you would have the same experience I did – stunned at the number who signed up right away. Creating any Article in LinkedIn, such as one that can become a newsletter edition, offers SEO title and description capabilities to get found.
For most people, my gut feeling is that the LinkedIn newsletter should lead to other “owned” properties: a blog, main newsletter, podcast, etc. For others, it might serve as the only newsletter. If that’s your choice, just keep in mind that anything can change when you are using someone else’s platform.
What’s more, you can’t beat the price, right? No list management. Easy compliance requirements. If you need more convincing, check out this piece by digital expert Neil Patel .
Plan to keep up a consistent flow of posts and comments on LinkedIn to encourage folks to follow you, since that will continue to add to your subscribers. ‘Course, you’ll want to encourage more subscriptions on and off the platform.

Featured Podcast Episode
I think that too many folks fail to create and take advantage of opportunities to be interviewed by online and offline media who are always looking for fresh, timely topics that would interest their audiences. Publicist and media trainer Joanne McCall and I had a chat about some of the things that it takes to deliver compelling media interviews.
My best advice is to focus a little time and attention on a concentrated effort to develop a comprehensive, consistent campaign. Nurture media relationships to extend your reach and reap the benefits of sharing your message across other people’s platforms.
Meanwhile, catch some of Joanne’s best advice to get ready to make the most of those media opportunities in “Expert Press Relations Must Dos & Don'ts: Interview with Media Publicist & Trainer Joanne McCall” with a link to get more tips from her book.

Using Other People’s Platforms: This Month’s Tip
Submit stories to Publications on Medium to get your messages out in front of other audiences. The Illumination Publication, founded by Dr. Mehmet Yildiz has 60,000 followers. There’s a short, easy learning curve to format correctly. Once you get that down, you can submit quickly. Here are the submission guidelines.
Monetize your stories by becoming a Medium paid member ($5/mo.) and sign up for the Partner Program.
