Friends of the Library annual event features authors Lara Avery & Dane Kroll
The Friends of the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library will showcase authors Lara Avery and Dane Kroll on Sunday, November 3, 1-3 p.m. These talented writers will share captivating stories about their journeys in writing and reading, answer audience questions, and sign books. Register to attend.
Avery is the author of the heartfelt and engaging novel The Year of Second Chances (2023) and three well-received young adult (YA) novels. Her articles and essays in Good Housekeeping, the San Francisco Chronicle, Gay Mag, ARTNews and Women In Clothes entertain and enlighten readers. Avery received the 2017 Minnesota Book Award for her YA novel The Memory Book, and has been awarded spots at the Loghaven Residency (2021) as well as the residency at the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts (2022).
Kroll is a writer with a passion for giant monsters, horror and adventure. Frustrated with the lack of new and exciting content in these genres, he took matters into his own hands and began writing his own books. One of Kroll’s most beloved series is Realm of Goryo, which takes place in a world on the edge of annihilation from giant monsters, aliens and other dangerous creatures. These books are fast-paced, action-packed, and filled with twists and turns that will keep you hooked until the very end.
