The Frogs of February - Using AI for the Big Ones

The Frogs of February - Using AI for the Big Ones

Hi Friends,

Remember last month when we were kicking off this new year with goals so big they set our hearts on fire? Now, as February unfolds, it may feel like those grand visions are quietly slipping into the background, overshadowed by the daily grind. If your New Year's sparkle is starting to dim, I’ve got you covered.

The following step-by-step AI exercise I’m about to share is inspired by Brian Tracy’s masterpiece "Eat That Frog!", it’s one of my favorite non-fiction books of all time. Such a simple little book that focuses on overcoming procrastination and effectively managing one's time to achieve goals. The title of the book is derived from a saying attributed to Mark Twain, which suggests that if the first thing you do each morning is to eat a live frog, you can go through the day with the satisfaction of knowing that probably nothing worse is going to happen to you that day. In this context, the "frog" represents your most significant, most important task, the one you are most likely to procrastinate on if you don't do something about it.

In one of Brian Tracy’s videos, he shares a wise yet simple formula that's stuck with me: Grab a clean sheet of paper, jot down today's date, and then list ten goals as if they're already happening. It's like, "I own this," "I've achieved that." Out of these, pick the one that would be a game-changer for you. This is where the magic happens. In a nutshell, you take this goal, give it a spotlight on a new sheet, and then break it down into actionable steps: Write it down, slap a deadline on it, list out the steps, organize them, take action, and then, the key part, do something every day to make it happen.

You could do this the analog way, just drawing from imagination and past experience or you could conduct a little experiment like I did and use AI to pour gasoline on it. The following is a powerful mix of tradition and technology that might just be the boost you need to make those dreams a reality. Shall we get started?

I’ve used this method specifically for 3 big goals I have this year:

1.       “I will get into the best shape of my life with a focus on strength and resilience.”

2.       “I will level up my commercial real estate brokerage business.”

3.       “I will make more plans for travel with friends and family.”

*Be sure to write these with an affirmative, decisive tone.

INSTRUCTIONS:

First, open up a Word document or Google Doc and copy all the text below (starting at #1) to the new document. Save the document.

Second, open up Chat GPT in a separate window, ideally on your 2nd display so you can see the document and Chat GPT side by side.

Copy these prompts one at a time, just the text in italics below, in consecutive order to complete a running chat that will result in a comprehensive action plan. Don’t open up new chats for each prompt; just keep it running in one chat. Wait for it to finish generating the response before copying in the next prompt.

These are the exact prompts I used in italics.

1. Write It Down – Crystalizing the Vision

Prompt: Please record my top goal. I've decided "I will (Insert your specific goal here). Let's document it clearly with a crystal-clear vision of what that looks like.

2. Set a Deadline

Prompt: Let's set a realistic deadline for achieving this goal. What factors should I consider to ensure it's challenging yet achievable?

3. Make a List

Prompt: I need to list all the steps to achieve this goal. Can you suggest tasks that might be involved based on similar goals?

4. Organize the List & Schedule

Prompt: Help me organize the list above into priority order and create a weekly schedule for the next 90 days.

5. Take Action

Prompt: Can you suggest tools to help me stay accountable to the goal? Also, how can I stay motivated throughout this process?

6. Do Something Every Day

Prompt: Let's set up a daily progress update. I will share what I've accomplished each day, and I'd like feedback or suggestions for the next steps.

Hot Tip: You can go back to the saved chat and continue the conversation. This daily interaction keeps you accountable and motivated while you're consistently working towards your goal.

Even if you just go through the motions and complete the exercise (Eat the Frog!), I guarantee a shift will occur just from the act of articulating your goals in writing. If you’d like to see my exact output from this exercise, shoot me a DM or text and I’ll send you the complete plan I came away with when I did this myself.
