From Data Scientist to Senior PM: A Journey of Passion and Purpose
Many Product Managers might tell you their path into the field was an “accident.” But let me tell you a little secret: behind those "accidents" lies a world of hard work and self-motivation.
My journey started as an Associate Data Scientist, where I was immersed in numbers and analytics. But soon, I found myself asking questions that went beyond data—questions about our customers, the problems we were solving, and how we could do better.
With curiosity as my compass, I acted as if I already had a PM title. I took ownership of problems, even when it wasn’t officially in my job description. I dove into the challenges, developed solutions, and led initiatives as if I were a Product Manager, even though my title was still Data Scientist.
That passion and drive didn’t go unnoticed. I transitioned from Data Scientist to Product Manager, and now, as a Senior PM, I’m leading projects that shape our products and strategies.
So, while my move into product management might seem like an accident to some, it’s really the result of a journey filled with proactive questioning, taking ownership, and following a passion for solving problems and creating value.
Here’s to embracing every opportunity, asking the tough questions, and always being ready to put on that PM hat—whether it’s in your title or not!
