#93 Unveiling the Fierce Within: A Biography Launch Event

As a writer who recently launched my fourth biography, Fragile to Fierce, I've found myself reflecting on the winding and sometimes breathless journey of self doubt and imposter syndrome that led me to this moment. The book took a record 1 year from start to finish all processes included and my what a fiercely authentic journey that was.

It's had been a whirlwind of emotions, a roller coaster ride of anticipation, and a profound sense of accomplishment. Now done and dusted with good initial market traction, I have had some crucial lessons along the way.

The Pre-Launch Jitters

The days leading up to the launch were filled with a mix of excitement and apprehension. Would people show up? Would they connect with the story? Would the event be a success? Did I have all the elements in place? These were the questions that raced through my mind. The doubts, as any writer knows, can be overwhelming, but I knew that I had to push through them.

The D-Day

The day of the launch finally arrived, and I found myself a bundle of nerves. I had a last minute haircut and collected some late delivery roll-up banners and arrived 2 hours early. Of course my team had been on site much earlier and things were on track. As I stood on the stage, facing a crowd of eager or maybe curious readers, I felt a surge of adrenaline, a speech I had prepared carefully wording and announcing parts became irrelevant. I never read a word of it!

Instead, I shared story experiences from writing the book, talked about the inspiration behind it, and expressed my gratitude to everyone who had supported me along the way.

Lessons Learned

Looking back on the event, I've realized that there are several valuable lessons. Here are a few key takeaways:

  1. Preparation is Key: The more prepared I was for the launch, the more confident I felt. From creating compelling audio visual presentations, videos and props to ensuring that all the logistics, a violinist<thanks Timothy> and even a choir were in place, preparation was essential.
  2. Authenticity is Everything: The most memorable moments of the launch were when I was able to connect with the audience on a personal level. Being authentic and sharing my true self made all the difference by allowing me express my inner self to the crowd. I had a speech but I dumped it for a hearty oratory of the moment.
  3. Celebrate the Small Wins: It's easy to get caught up in the big picture, but it's important to celebrate the small victories along the way. Every step, from writing the book to hosting and attending the launch in a healthy frame along with friends and family, is itself enough of a win.
  4. Embrace Feedback: Feedback is a valuable tool for growth. Whether it's positive or negative, it can help you learn and improve. Get as much as you can. Then enjoy the results! Remember before you can truly exert God's will he always sends you to the mirror first.

The Road Ahead

As I look to the future, I'm excited to see where my writing journey will take me next. I'm grateful for the opportunity to share my stories with the world and for the support I have received from my readers. The launch of Fragile to Fierce was a milestone, but it's just the beginning of many hoops and loops.
