🎉 Summit 2024 Is Next Week!

Summit 2023, Four Seasons, Orlando, Florida

I will be flying to Southern California for our sold-out annual Summit in a few days. Thank you to all Legatus members who registered for Summit 2024! This is more than a meeting and is different from a conference.

Our summits are an opportunity for our members to encounter the Lord through Mass, Confession, Adoration, transformative speakers, and authentic fellowship.

If you aren’t able to join us in Southern California next week, you can follow Summit 2024 on our social media channels: LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Please pray for safe travels for our attendees and speakers, ask God to remove all obstacles for our hard-working staff, and pray for a successful Summit!

🧳 On the Road

This week, I had the privilege of accompanying my son's 8th-grade class from Spiritus Sanctus Academy, the Dominican school in Ann Arbor, on their annual trip to Washington, D.C., for the national March for Life.

It is important that all of us understand that life is a precious gift from God. It is to be nurtured, cherished, and respected from conception to natural death. Gathering with Americans from all over the country, and from a wide variety of faith backgrounds, helped us understand the importance of standing up for the unborn.

As Pope Francis explained, ““Every child who, rather than being born, is condemned unjustly to being aborted, bears the face of Jesus Christ, bears the face of the Lord, who even before he was born, and then just after birth, experienced the world's rejection.”

We marched for the freedom to be born. We marched because our love for the Lord, and His love for every one of us, compelled us to.

👓A Reflection From Hawaii

Dappled Things regularly has thought-provoking and soul-enriching pieces. Their most recent post, A road less taken on Maui, is no exception. The author shares a perspective on life after the Lahaina fire. A sample:

I have no illusions about my place in the Hawaiian universe: I am a mainland haole. My perspective was as restricted as someone who looks through the slats of a fence and constructs a world from what can be seen on the other side. Previous visits, though, gave me a basis for comparison. This September was different. And properly humbling. Even more than in past years, I felt the need to visit the Coral Miracle Church.

I encourage you to take a few minutes to read it all. Whether or not you have been to Hawaii, you will appreciate the author’s inspiration.

💰Davos and Legatus

I have never been to Davos. But I always find the news from the annual World Economic Forum in Davos fascinating. This year, I was pleased to see that Legatus member and president of the Heritage Foundation, Kevin Roberts, spoke at the Forum this year. Heritage’s The Daily Signal, has terrific coverage of President Roberts encounter with the elites in Davos. Check it out!

Thank you for reading, and be on the lookout for our next From the President’s Desk!
