From the thinking chair…a real essence of humanity.
From the thinking chair…
I was just reflecting about a man I helped this week while traveling for work. The man was petrified to fly on a plane. While landing, he asked me for help to get over his extreme fright. I helped him with a hand on his hand and some very calming words. We landed with the usual jolt of the wheels hitting the tarmac and the roar of the engines slowing us down. With a great sigh, he was thankful and wished me well.
It was not that I was selfless or unwilling. Instead, I thought it was the right thing to do. The episode reminded me to how we should treat others regardless to our positions in life. The quote below from T.S. Eliott finally made sense to me after 30+ years.
“Half of the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm. But the harm does not interest them.” T. S. Eliot
I wish all of my followers the best as you reflect on the times you may have put the well-being of another first, a real essence of humanity.
