From your Point of View

From your Point of View

Gary Kayye💜 CTS had us complete the Enneagram personality test in our Branding of Me course this semester. He told us to take the test as honestly as possible or even have someone who would know us the best to complete it on our behalf to get the most authentic results. This part stuck with me. My best friends probably could take my personality tests better than me. The people we’re close to can see all of us: the good, the bad, and the ugly. My closest friends have seen me at my highest points and when I've hit rock bottom. They know me the best. They can probably tell you about me better than I can myself. In fact, I’ve always struggled with the “tell me a little about yourself” interview questions. I never know what to say, I never know what things to include, what things about myself are even important. So often, we are too hard on ourselves and fail to see some of our best qualities and strengths. I believe sometimes we do need to see ourselves from someone else point of view. Our closest counterparts keep us accountable but also remind us of the good in us that even we can’t see sometimes. What better way to get to know me than from the people I love? Instead of telling you more about me, here’s a collection from a few of my closest friends!

“Amber Lee is someone that I have the privilege of calling my best friend. A few words I could use to describe her are honest, intelligent, caring, hardworking and passionate. And those just barely scrape the surface of the kind of person Amber is. She is someone you can always count on. I know that whenever I need someone to talk to, or even just to listen to me, Amber will be there for me. Her love for others shows through everything she does. Whatever she sets her mind to, she will achieve. She doesn’t give up. To know her is to love her.”

“Amber lovesss squishmallows, watching baseball, and her friends and family of course! She’s a loyal friend who’s always there when you need her for tough times, but also a super fun partner in crime who I know I can have a good time with. She’s so silly and sweet and I’m lucky to have a friend like Amber Lee.”

“Amber is basically a life alert, I know she will always be there, she’s accountable. I enjoy that in a friend when I’m down I know I can count on her to be there for me.”

“Amber is quiet until you get to know her and then you can’t get her to stop in the best way possible. She’s the friend that everybody wishes they had, who is always there for you.”

“Amber is a breath of fresh air at work! She always has a smile on her face and is always down to talk or go out for lunch, and if not lunch then she always has plenty of candy at her desk to make up for it!”

“Amber is someone who puts her best foot forward no matter the situation. She faces adversity head on in her own way and brings a positive and outgoing attitude to whatever situation/place she is in.”

As you can probably tell, I am blessed with some of the best people in my life. People who inspire me to be the best version of me each and every day. People who support me and uplift me, but also keep me accountable. I couldn’t be the person they described without their love in my life. I encourage you to tell those close to you how you see them from your point of view and vice versa. You never know the impact it can make.
