If frontline employee experience was coffee orders…

Yesterday was International Coffee Day, and yeah, we’re still buzzing… 

Naturally, after consuming way too much caffeine, we started wondering—if your frontline employees’ experience was a coffee order, what would they go for?

(Yes, we know we’re stretching this analogy like a too-long espresso shot, but let’s roll with it. Sabrina Carpenter would approve! 😉)


1. The ‘Espresso’ Experience

These are your task-focused employees, always craving efficiency. They thrive on quick, concise communication and immediate feedback. They appreciate when their employee app or communication channels serve up just what they need—no fluff, no delays. Think of them as those employees who knock out tasks with as much punch as a double shot of espresso. 

Tip: Fast, actionable updates and clear calls to action will keep them fueled.


2. The ‘Latte’ Experience

Ah, the ones who like a little balance. 

They need a blend of regular communication and human support—whether it's a quick check-in from their manager or content that mixes work goals with personal development. Just like a latte needs frothy milk to balance the espresso, they thrive in a workplace where empathy blends with expectations. 

Your move: Check in often, but, you know, without being “that” manager who pings them 24/7.


3. The ‘Cold Brew’ Experience

This kind of employee takes their sweet time to adjust, but once they’re in the groove, good luck stopping them. They might not be early adopters of new communication tools or practices, but when you’ve invested time in their training, they’ll become your most consistent performers. 

It’s like cold brew—it steeps for hours, but once it’s ready? Unstoppable. 

Heads-up: Be patient with them; they’ll be your MVPs once they hit their stride.


4. The ‘Macchiato’ Experience

Bold with a little sweetness, these are the employees who thrive when they’re encouraged and appreciated. They’re not shy about stepping up, but they’ll deliver their best work when there’s recognition, even in small doses. Just like a macchiato’s hint of foam, they want instant feedback and a culture of fun to keep things light.

Pro hack: Keep it fun and make sure you recognize their effort, or you’ll lose ‘em faster than a bad TikTok trend.


5. The ‘Flat White’ Experience

No frills, no fluff—just give them the tools and get outta their way. They’re like, “Just tell me what to do and let me get on with it.” These employees are focused and appreciate straightforward communication. For them, it’s all about clarity and functionality—give them the right tools and information, and they’ll deliver results. Just like a flat white, they appreciate simplicity and consistency.  

Pro move: Keep communication direct, with step-by-step guides and no overcomplication. Less is more for these employees.


At the end of the day, whether your frontline employees want their experience served ‘hot,’ ‘cold,’ or somewhere in between, having the right communication tools in place can help you tailor their journey and make them feel valued.

Because like coffee, the better the brew, the more energized your team will be to tackle the next shift!
