The first open heart surgery at FUH's Surgical Institute

A multi-disciplinary approach and team effort by the surgical institute, gave Gen-Y, Omar Khalil a second chance at life after open heart surgery, the first of its kind at FUH's Surgical Institute.

On February 14th, heartful on Valentines, he returned home to his family after a Coronary Artery Bypass Graft. The surgery led by Consultant Cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. Faouzi Safadi was performed successfully with assistance from expert anesthetists, the ICU team, and other support staff.

Life changing stories from FUH's Surgical Institute

There is no greater joy than positively impacting people's lives. We have had many inspiring and life-altering stories come to life at the Surgical Institute, a few being;

A 39-year-old Asian expat underwent successful brain surgery (Craniotomy), having suffered from occasional bouts of headache for the past 2 years.

Suffering from a rare genetic disease affecting his vision, 30-year-old Hudhaifa Khadim, had his vision restored after a cornea transplant surgery performed by Dr. Vladimir Tchouprine, Specialist Ophthalmologist.

Another heartwarming story is of a UAE resident & father of 5, whose lifestyle was disrupted by immense arm & neck pain. A minimally invasive spine surgery under Dr. Tommaso Tufo, Consultant Neurosurgeon - Brain & Spine, helped him get back to enjoying life with his kids.

Setting benchmarks in Smart Healthcare

Fakeeh University Hospital is a smart hospital that is technologically adept whilst being aligned to quality care, patient safety, and enhanced outcomes. Community & Celebrations

Community connects and outreach activities are a key part of our service. Hence, every month we participate in outreach activities that allow us to touch more lives and reach more communities.

Over the past 2 months, we hosted two sessions of FUH Life Café - our inhouse coffee morning support group for mums with babies under 1 year of age, & also participated in TishTash Mums Club where we met mums & their little ones, discussing health checks and screenings.

FUH experts in child's health, diabetes, and eye care participated in a parents-focused health & wellbeing fair at GEMS Wellington Academy, DSO, offering health advice & screenings for parents & their little ones.
