Israel, our Holy Land

Today, Monday night at sundown (April 22, 2024), the first of the Biblical Spring Feasts will begin. The fundamental purpose of Passover is remembrance. God calls His people to recount “the sacrifice of the LORD's Passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt.” (Exodus 12).

Passover kicks off the week-long Feast of Unleavened Bread, the celebration of redemption where no bread containing leaven is eaten. In preparation of Passover, a major cleaning operation takes place in every Jewish home, sometimes weeks in advance. All chametz (leaven) is thrown out of the house. The evening before Passover, parents guide their children through the home in a ceremonious search for any hidden leaven. These activities are used as a teaching tool, because during the Festival, leaven is symbolic of sin.

In the days leading up to Passover, Jews pay special attention to searching their hearts removing any sin in their lives.

After sundown on the night Passover begins, the first seder (order) is held. The Passover seder is a ceremonial meal that serves as a remembrance of captivity and deliverance from Egypt. During the Seder, Jews drink four cups of wine for many symbolic reasons, though all lend to the representation of their redemption from slavery. Matzah (unleavened bread) is eaten during the seder and throughout the week of Passover in remembrance of when the Israelites fled Egypt in such a hurry, their dough hadn't time to rise, and was left unleavened. Bitter herbs are eaten with the matzo to symbolize the pain and bitterness of slavery. The seder is all conducted through the Haggadah (Jewish text), which retells, in detail, the Exodus story.

On the first day of the Festival, a corporate worship service is held commemorating the Jews leaving Egypt. A second service is held on the seventh day, commemorating the splitting of the Red Sea.

Passover 2024

CHRISTIAN SIGNIFICANCE

Followers of Jesus who celebrate Passover are struck by the Messianic significance embedded in the observance. During the traditional Jewish seder, the stripped and bruised matzah is broken, wrapped in a white linen, and temporarily hidden in the home, only to be searched for and discovered later by the children. This ancient tradition is reminiscent of our Savior, who was whipped, crucified, laid to rest in the tomb, and rose again.

The wine, which is customarily dripped onto a white plate, reminds of us the blood Messiah poured out for us so that we might be saved. He is our sacrificial lamb, the one that gives us the unmeasurable opportunity to appear before the Father as a new man, clean of sin. The parallels continue with every aspect of the traditional ceremony, and serves as confirmation that the Passover is still relevant today.

Christians, too, are to rid ourselves of leaven, as stated in 1 Corinthians 5, “Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new unleavened batch—as you really are. For Messiah, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.”

This is my body, given for you. Do this in memory of me! Luke 22

The night before his torture and execution, we see Yeshua partaking of the Passover meal with the disciples. It was here that He lifted the matzah and wine, saying, “Take, eat; this is My body... Drink from it, all of you; for this is My blood of the covenant, which is being poured out for many for forgiveness of sins.”

When Christians celebrate Passover, we are participating in the remembrance of the greatest story ever given to mankind. We are teaching our children about the life, death, and resurrection of our Savior, the King of Israel. Passover reminds us that without the sacrifice of Messiah, we would be no different than the uncovered Egyptian houses in Exodus. But because we have chosen to mark our hearts with the shed blood of the Lamb, Believers are free to leave Egypt behind, and journey into the Land with songs of joy and great deliverance.

Tzippy Weiss

I have not shared a personal post in a while and here is why.

People dealing with coronavirus anxiety, kids, shopping, menu planning, trying to prepare for Passover, juggling with home schooling, and entire families stuck at home quarantining until further notice, struggling not to strangle each other, it's exhausting, and there are those of us dealing with much more and may be keeping it inside and crying silently, while working 24/7 to maintain a smile and sense of humor. That's me these days. And I consider myself a genuinely happy individual.

Esperanza Amelia Rodriguez Diaz Tzippy Weiss Your leadership is absolutely awesome! To share your story... so brilliantly written... so honest and open... your trust in us all to read and respect the pain you must have been going through!!! We love you and thank GOD for the likes of you!!!

2024 on Passover from Stanley Krieger

$9,000,000,000 to GAZA !!!!

This is OUTRAGEOUS!!!  The House bill “for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan INCLUDES $9 Billion for Gaza (so-called “humanitarian aid”—which will go directly to HAMAS, the ruling authority k. Gaza!!   Coupled with the non-enforcement of oil sanctions on Iran and sending  $16Billion more to Iran has the USA taxpayers funding BOTH SIDES of the middle east war; and $61Billion MORE to Ukraine, which is losing the war and has limited manpower—without any plan to win it or negotiate a resolution to it!! And of course, we have to borrow this money and add it to our deficit and national debt!!!!  This is disgusting!  And now Biden wants to sanction the IDF !!!  (what about China? Iran? Russia?— our enemies!!! )

I am outraged!!

Police Stop Anti-Zionist Agitators From Accessing Florida University President’s Home as Students Revolt Nationwide

When will all universities expel rather than suspend any and all students who break university rules and law regardless of their pro- Palestinian/anti America agenda?
An extremist anti-Zionist group on Thursday was prevented by local police from marching to the Ronald W. Reagan Presidential House at Florida International University (FIU), which is the home of school president Kenneth A. Jessell.
According to the campus newspaper Panther Now, Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) planned the action as part of “Palestinian Prisoner Day,” an event held by the group to honor terrorists who are detained in Israel. As the demonstrators approached Jessell’s home, a blockade of police formed to obstruct their path.
Despite the aggression displayed in marching a mob to someone’s residence, the students complained that the police’s response was disproportionate to any threat they may have posed.
“Take a look over there. Do you know how many cop cars are there? All these cops for a bunch of students who are just chanting,” SJP co-president Zuhra Alchtar was quoted by Panther Now as saying when the police arrived on the scene. “The ivory tower gets so shaken when a bunch of people speak. They can’t stand it. They have to call the big guns; they have to call the priority response team.”
The demonstration came as anti-Zionist students across the US have been recently crossing the line from peaceful expressions of free speech to riotous behavior, flagrantly violating school rules, disrupting business, and even exposing Jewish students to racist and antisemitic rhetoric unlike any uttered publicly in the US since the 1950s.
Earlier this month, Vanderbilt University suspended and expelled several protesters who occupied an administrative building and proceeded to relieve themselves and perform other private functions inside. To infiltrate the building, the students “assaulted a Community Service Officer” and “pushed” officials who suggested having a discussion about their concerns, according to school officials.
At Columbia University, students were reportedly suspended — although it has recently been alleged that the university reduced their penalties to probation — for inviting to campus a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a group that has committed airliner hijackings and mass shootings. This week, two days of protest convulsedthe campus and resulted in the arrest and suspension from school of US Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-MN) daughter.
In several documented cases, anti-Israel protesters resorted to verbally abusing Black officials with racial epithets and violated their personal space. The Vanderbilt protesters told a Black police officer that his racial identity demanded his being an accessory to their machinations, according to video of the scene, and at Pomona College earlier this month, the school’s president reported that protesters called a Black administrator a racial slur.
A similar incident took place at George Washington University when US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield visited the campus last week. An SJP spinoff, formed after the school’s chapter was suspended, distributed pamphlets describing the ambassador as a “puppet” and a “Black body” who is “used … to carry out repression and dissent.” After the event concluded, a protester approached GW dean Colette Coleman and clapped her hands in the official’s face.
Such incidents have occurred alongside an unprecedented surge in antisemitic incidents and extreme anti-Israel activity on US college campuses that have upended the lives of many Jewish students.
According to the Anti-Defamation League’s (ADL) new annual audit, there were 922 antisemitic incidents on college campuses in 2023, a “staggering” 321 percent increase from the previous year. Across the nation, 8,873 incidents added up to the most ever counted by the ADL since it began tracking such data in 1979. Most of the outrages occurred after Hamas’ Oct. 7 massacre across southern Israel and amid the ensuing war in Gaza.
In California, an elderly Jewish man was killed when an anti-Israel professor employed by a local community college allegedly pushed him during an argument. At Cornell University in upstate New York, a student threatened to rape and kill Jewish female students and “shoot up” the campus’ Hillel center. In a suburb outside Cleveland, Ohio, a group of vandals desecrated graves at a Jewish cemetery. At Harvard University, America’s oldest and, arguably, most prestigious university, a faculty group shared an antisemitic cartoon depicting a left-hand tattooed with a Star of David dangling two men of color from a noose.
Other outrages were expressive but subtle. In November, large numbers of people traveling to attend the “March for Israel” in Washington, DC either could not show up or were forced to scramble last second and final alternative transportation because numerous bus drivers allegedly refusedto transport them there. Hundreds of American Jews from Detroit, for example, were left stranded at Dulles Airport, according to multiple reports. At Yale University, a campus newspaper came under fire for removing from a student’s column what it called “unsubstantiated claims” of Hamas raping Israeli women, marking a rare occasion in which the publication openly doubted reports of sexual assault.
