The Future of Better Energy starts with ALL of us
For millions across the world, this time of the year is for reflection, regeneration and resolutions.
Nowadays there is much more at stake than the 100 trillion dollar global economy. Mother Nature is shuffling a new deck of climatic and geopolitical cards.
Despite the increase in insular politics, interdependence remains our global reality, and not merely a choice. We all depend on many others for peace and prosperity.
Effective collaboration gaps are growing across geographies, generations and genders. These require proactive interventions and management to deliver progress.
What's also becoming clear is that the nature of change itself is shifting. Change will not be fast or slow but sudden, everywhere, all at once.
Meanwhile, many of the institutions on which we all rely were designed in simpler times and for stability and control. No wonder modernisation is being called for on many fronts - we can't rely on what worked in the past. We all have to move ahead of these turbulent times.
We are trying to work out how to redesign our societies with energy for empathy and emergence.
No single technology - from artificial intelligence to hydrogen - will become the solution to a sustainable world, but instead will join many other technologies as part of our common future.

The World Energy Council’s centenary year is now well underway.
Our perspectives on multiple pathways and diverse and desirable futures is essential and not easy to navigate.
The global challenge is to shift from broadcasting to two or more way engagement. We will only thrive if we can inspire energy transformations AND deliver energy transitions.
The future of better energy is not found in any single vision, nor determined by data-rich forecasts or policy projections.
Energy is the story of all of us and we are learning how to write it together.
My sincere and heartfelt thanks to our friends, colleagues, members, patrons, Officers, Chairs, Future Energy Leaders, Congress sponsors - our co-designers in the future - as we strive to humanise energy for billions of lives, a healthy planet and generations to come.
The future of better energy starts with all of us.

3wThe important role that energy has played across civilisations over generations - helping societies flourish and interconnect - is so often overlooked in today’s polarised, sometimes introspective and frequently me-me world. A wish or wishes for 2025? 1. Enhanced energy literacy across all geographies - to deliver better informed Energy decision-making that deliver consumer benefits. 2. Greater realism between visions (ore dreams) and reality / delivery. Delivering multi stakeholder energy projects is darn difficult - financially and people-wise. 3. Better and more timely listening and engagement skills. Without this, energy developments will continue to lag societal needs. Happy Holidays.
