The Future of Leadership is Human + AI: Are You Ready?

Will You Lead or Be Left Behind?

When you hear "2025," what do you see? Flying cars? Robots taking over? Maybe an AI dystopia? Let’s pump the brakes on the sci-fi. The truth is, AI isn’t here to replace us—it’s here to amplify us.

The real question isn’t whether AI will change the game, it already has. The real question is this: Will you step up and lead, or will you get left behind?

AI: The Co-Pilot, Not the Pilot

I joined LinkedIn in 2006. Back then, every post felt like shouting into a void. Building real connections? Now, that was the ultimate challenge. Fast-forward 18 years later, and AI is helping leaders like us cut through the noise to connect more effectively.

But here’s the thing: AI is a tool, not a replacement. It’s the co-pilot, not the pilot. You’re still in charge of the journey, but now you’ve got a sidekick who can anticipate your needs, map the best routes, and lighten the load.

The difference? The destination becomes more attainable—and the ride, smoother.

Amplified Intelligence, Not Artificial Intelligence

Think about it this way: AI can handle the busywork—data crunching, scheduling, automating repetitive tasks. But the magic still comes from you. Your stories. Your voice. Your quirks.

Let’s take LinkedIn’s Hiring Assistant as an example. Sure, it can analyze resumes like a pro, but it’s not hiring. You still have to connect, build trust, and show candidates why they should want to work with you. That’s AI + Authenticity in action.

And the best part? AI isn’t competing with you—it’s working with you. By automating the things that bog you down, it frees you to double down on what you do best: inspiring teams, building connections, and making a difference.

Still Think AI is Optional? Let’s Look at the Numbers

If you’re on the fence about embracing AI, these stats might change your mind:

🔵 68% of marketers are optimistic about AI’s role in their work (Kantar).

🔵 40% of global companies already use AI, and adoption rates are skyrocketing in countries like India and Singapore (Exploding Topics).

🔵 By 2030, the AI market is projected to hit $1.85 trillion, growing at an annual rate of 37%.

Ignoring AI in 2025 is like doubling down on Blockbuster while Netflix is taking over. Leaders who wait for “the right time” to adopt AI will quickly find themselves left in the dust.

Why AI Will Never Replace Leaders

AI can

✔ Save you time.

✔ Spark creativity.

✔ Scale your efforts.

But here’s what it can’t do:

❌ Build trust.

❌ Inspire passion in a team.

❌ Create deep, emotional connections.

The other day, my son Jayden asked, “Dad, does a computer do all your work?” That question stopped me in my tracks. The answer is simple: AI makes me better. It doesn’t replace me. It gives me time to show up fully as a leader, dad, and husband.

My first-born Jayden and my wife Rachel B Lee.

This is the human advantage. No matter how advanced AI gets, it will always lack the empathy, intuition, and creativity that make us uniquely human. That’s why the best leaders will use AI not to replace their humanity but to amplify it.

Your 2025 AI Toolkit

Not sure where to start? Here are 3 tools to use AI effectively without losing your humanity:

🔵 LinkedIn Hiring Assistant: Streamline recruiting so you can focus on personal connections.

🔵 ChatGPT or Other Writing AIs: Generate ideas or drafts but always add your personal voice.

🔵 Customer Service AI: Automate responses and free up your team for bigger, human-focused challenges.

These tools aren’t just about saving time—they’re about reinvesting that time where it counts. Imagine freeing up hours every week to focus on mentoring your team, strategizing for the future, or simply being more present with your family. That’s the power of integrating AI into your workflows.

The Future is Human + AI Partnerships

Leaders who thrive in 2025 won’t just use AI—they’ll use it to amplify their impact, authenticity, and relationships.

Here’s where I see things heading:

🔵 AI will become the standard across businesses, big and small.

🔵 Leaders who master AI tools will scale faster and smarter.

🔵 Trust and ethical AI practices will define the leaders people want to follow.

But it’s not enough to use AI—you need to use it intentionally. The goal isn’t to automate every task or interaction. It’s to integrate AI in ways that elevate your ability to lead, inspire, and connect.

Your Leadership Challenge

As we close out the year, I want you to ask yourself one simple question:

How will you use AI to lead with heart in 2025?

Maybe it’s automating repetitive tasks so you can spend more time with your family. Maybe it’s embracing AI insights to guide your team with clarity. Whatever it is, one thing is certain: no tool can replace the power of human connection.

So, what’s your plan? Make 2025 the year you use AI not to replace who you are but to amplify it.

Quick Tips for Leading in 2025 with AI

🔵 Post Smarter: Use AI to analyze engagement trends.

🔵 Engage Authentically: Reply to comments and DMs with your unique voice.

🔵 Automate the Mundane: Let AI handle scheduling, data, and other time consuming tasks.

Don’t just watch from the sidelines. The future is happening now. Let’s lead it together.

Final Thought: The Human Edge

Here’s what I’ve learned from nearly two decades on LinkedIn: The tools will always change, but the foundation stays the same. Whether it’s AI, social media, or something else entirely, leadership is about showing up authentically, inspiring trust, and connecting deeply.

In 2025, the leaders who thrive won’t just be the ones with the best tools—they’ll be the ones who never lose sight of the people behind the profiles.

So, will you lead, or will you be left behind?

Your approach to AI feels grounded and practical, not just theoretical. Much appreciated.

It’s refreshing to hear someone talk about AI as a partner instead of a threat to creativity.
