Video: A Game Plan for Your Storage Unit
When you’re buying or selling a home there are a car-load of reasons that you might want or need to rent a storage unit… literally.
Perhaps your home will be on the market and you or your Realtor feels that staging the home will present your property in its best light, highlight spacious rooms or feature architectural details. Often storage space in a home is limited or already maximized, or there is oversized furniture in small spaces. Maybe you just have too much stuff.
Occasionally a home buyer’s movers will be scheduled to arrive before your close date. Perhaps the transaction is delayed for reasons beyond your control.
Whatever the situation, you want to be certain that you have a convenient, well-organized space ready to store your belongings.
A note of caution for both home buyers and home sellers, be sure to keep legal, medical, and financial documents with you, or be absolutely certain that you can lay your hands on them if you need to access them quickly. The video below will be helpful under any of these circumstances.

Welcome to Today’s Home Update, I’m Cheyenne.
If you are need of a storage unit, here are some strategies for making the most of that space.
If you’re storing larger items, take the time to break them down to get the most use of the space.
You’re bound to forget some of the items stored in the unit so make an inventory list of what you’ve tucked away. While you’re at it, map out where everything is located so you can find it when you need it.
If you’ll be packing belongings away in boxes be sure to label them so you can quickly and easily identify what’s inside. It’s also important to make sure all labels are facing the same way.
Keep like items together or grouped according to room.
Finally, if you’re renting a larger self-storage unit, don’t forget to leave a walk-way down the middle. Not only will this make it simple to grab things when you need them, it’ll keep you from having to climb over boxes and other items when you need to get something from the back of the unit.
