The GAPS Band Final Concert

The GAPS Band Final Concert

In my prior role as CEO of Cognizant, I had many responsibilities.  Of all of these, my role as Chief Culture Officer of the firm was the most important.  As they say, culture eats strategy for lunch!  We showed that our culture – which came to life in the heroes, rituals and legends of Cognizant was the secret sauce that bound us together and enabled us to build a company not just of scale but also of significance.

One of my favorite rituals at Cognizant was the annual performance of the “GAPS Band” – a group of talented associates who got together every year at our annual kickoff meeting to perform for their colleagues.   Over the years, the band became the main side-show of the GAPS meeting.  In some years (like 2015 for those who remember), the band almost became the main attraction!

So it’s with sadness that I write this post to announce the final concert of the GAPS Band.   Our friend, former colleague and GAPS band lead guitarist Shawn Mishra is battling ALS.  To celebrate our friendship, the GAPS band is getting back together for one final concert. This is not an event that you’ll want to miss!  If you happen to be in the NY/NJ area on June 12th and you were part of GAPS over those years, join Shawn and the rest of us for an evening of music and celebration.  It’s going to be a memorable night. Details of the event can be found here. PLEASE SHARE this post with others that may be interested in attending...

Thanks Frank for this great initiative and bringing everyone back together. Shawn - we were mesmerized by your performance on stage and off stage at the hotel bar in Orlando. All of our sincere prayers and best wishes go out to you. Looking forward to Jun 12. I hope all the Cognizant leaders who attended GAPS then, are planning to attend and make this a truly memorable event !
