"Get your priorities right!"
One day, as I was waiting for my meal to arrive, I overheard a chat from the next table between an elder and a teenager. The elder was quite loud and seemed infuriated with the teenager.
But those words caught my attention. They reminded me of my first year at work where I seemed all over the place. I guess it still happens here and there.
Thinking about it, what is the right priority? And whose priority is it?
Health, career, business, finance, relationships, hobby, or spirituality.
Whichever is your priority, it is your priority. There's no right nor wrong to it.
What if you don't know your priorities?
What if everything is equally important?
All of us would come to a crossroad at some point in life, even myself included. It's a natural process.
If you have many priorities, rank them accordingly - imagine a pyramid stack, which one sits on top?
If everything is No.1, which one you'd pick without a doubt - imagine you can only have one thing at the tip of the pyramid, which would it be?
It's not to say that the others are not important or you'll drop the ball on the rest. It only means that you've decided on it – your priority. You may be in a situation, where your priority No.1 is far from ideal. That's ok. It just means there is more effort needed on it.
The point is to set a priority, and make your plans around it. This way you have a direction and focus in life. Whatever your priority is, you are right.
Ultimately, we are responsible for ourselves – from choosing priorities, making decisions, to living through them. Not others.
Isn't it interesting how some thoughts can spark while waiting for meals?
What are some thoughts or ideas that sparked in you out of random?
