Spillemyndigheden: Danish gambling spend drops 2.8% for September

Spillemyndigheden, the Danish Gambling Authority, has released its gambling revenue figures for September 2024. The overall spend for September 2024 was DKK 553m, which represented a 2.8% fall when compared to the same month last year. The biggest drop came in betting, which fell 22% to DKK 144m. Out of these, 63.2% of bets were placed on mobile, 14.6% on desktop and 22.2% from physical betting shops. Read the full story here.

New York posts highest-ever wagering handle of $2.3bn for October

The New York State Gaming Commission has released its October 2024 report, highlighting a new record sports wagering handle of $2.3bn for the month. These latest figures surpass the previous record wagering handle of $2.11bn from November 2023. Further, last October saw New York become the first US state to report a monthly wagering handle of $2bn, a figure that has evidently risen by a healthy $300m year-on-year. President Marcos orders immediate ban on Philippine offshore gaming operators

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has officially mandated a nationwide ban on Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) through Executive Order No. 74, halting all offshore and internet gaming activities within the country. The order, signed on 5 November by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, cites concerns regarding national security, public order and economic stability. The executive order stems from findings by the Department of Finance (DOF) and the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) which indicate that the social and financial risks linked to POGO activities surpass any economic benefits.
