Total gambling spend decreases in Denmark for second consecutive year

Spillemyndigheden, Denmark’s gambling authority, has reported its gambling spend for the country during the course of 2023. Overall, gambling totalled DKK 10.3bn (US$1.5bn) for the year, signifying a slight decrease compared to 2022 of around 1.7%. This now means for the second consecutive year, gross gaming revenue (GGR) has seen a decline, while this represents its lowest total for a number of years. Read the full story here.

New Jersey February gaming revenue up 12% to $461.5m

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement has released its gaming revenue figures for February 2024, offering insights into the state's gambling industry compared to the same period last year. According to the report, total casino win for the nine casino hotel properties in February 2024 amounted to $211.6m. This represents a slight decrease of 1.6% from the $215m reported for February 2023. Year-to-date casino win for the nine properties was $416.3m, indicating a decrease of 2.4% year-on-year. Zitro Digital receives approval to operate in Peru from MINCETUR

Zitro’s online gaming division, Zitro Digital, has secured the relevant authorisation from Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR), to operate as a licensed online slot supplier in the country. Zitro already has a presence within some of Peru’s land-based casinos and has a general presence within the LatAm market. Sun International reports R12.1bn income for 2023

Sun International has reported its financial results for full-year 2023, highlighting a 7% growth in income (perceived to be the equivalent of revenue) to R12.1bn (US$0.5bn). The gaming market in South Africa grew for a third successive year to R55.8bn in 2023, a very important metric considering 76.8% of Sun International’s total group income comes from its gaming income. PAGCOR plans to lower rates for online and retail casinos

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has revealed plans to lower gross gaming revenue (GGR) remittance rates for casinos. The remittance rates will be lowered by 5% across both online and on-site casinos and will be effective from 1 April 2024. Alejandro Tengco, PAGCOR Chairman and CEO, said: “The remittance rates should then average around 35% of GGR, which is quite significant because when we assumed office in August 2022, the prevailing remittance rate was over 50%."
