Give me your money!

Hi everyone. It’s me again. I’m back with another cause that needs support, and you’ve probably never heard of it; but that’s one of the reasons that I’m championing it. We gotta get the word out there.

So, let’s talk about rare neuroimmune disorders and the SRNA (Siegel Rare Neuroimmune Association).

All the disorders for which the SRNA advocates, are immune-mediated disorders of the central nervous system—we’re talking, brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves. All of these disorders occur when our immune systems mistakenly attack a part of the body rather than the invaders like viruses or bacteria. Most times, this leads to significant muscle weakness or paralysis, and a lifetime of physical rehabilitation. There’s a lot more to immune-mediated disorders, but I’ll save that for future posts.

Full disclosure, I’m married to someone with a rare neuroimmune disorder, and she has organized a Wisconsin Walk & Roll. Maleah Moskoff is a hope ambassador and regional group leader for the SRNA, and I have magnanimously (lol) accepted her invitation to join her team of fundraisers for the event. That’s right; I’m trying this fundraising thing again.

My last cause was the LLS (Leukemia & Lymphoma Society), and I want to take a moment to thank the 2 people that donated money to the cause. I was able to raise $35 thanks to them! I know that doesn’t sound like a lot…BECAUSE IT”S NOT! Here’s a list of things:

  1. I found out that I’m not very good at fundraising. I was basically the weakest link on my LLS team. :(
  2. Fundraising during a pandemic and subsequent economic recession is damn hard!
  3. #1 and #2 aren’t going to stop me!

A special thanks to my LLS Team Leader, Chantel Soumis, for being such a great example of philanthropy, and thanks to my other team members for caring my load.
