Goal Setting ~ Before You Start
[1/5/11] Goal setting is my favorite area of mastery. Watching people plot out their lives and unleash their imagination is inspiring. Once you begin to follow these simple rules you will have the best shot at success!
Since only a few folks are really successful "across the board" (all areas of life) you might find it noteworthy that only 15% of folks set goals and less than 5% write them down.
So it's obvious that setting goals and writing them down gives you a 'leg up' toward your own success.
Here are 9 Musts for goal setting (and achieving). This is what you need to begin your 2011 plan and now you have this extra ‘edge’ and incentive to make 2011 the best year ever.
1. 𝘿𝙤 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙨𝙚𝙩 𝙖 𝙜𝙤𝙖𝙡 𝙗𝙖𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙤𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙥𝙖𝙨𝙩 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙨. Those results were achieved before you learned these steps; old thinking. It takes the same energy to, as example, make $50k per year as it does to make $160k. Starting with old results would be making $50k/year and setting a goal for $55k.
2. 𝘿𝙤 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙨𝙚𝙩 𝙖 𝙜𝙤𝙖𝙡 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙡𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙮 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙥𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙚𝙫𝙚 𝙞𝙩. You would have already done it and you haven't.
3. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙜𝙤𝙖𝙡 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙗𝙚 𝙨𝙤 𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙜𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙁𝘼𝙇𝙇 𝙄𝙉 𝙇𝙊𝙑𝙀 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙞𝙩. When we desire or want it very, very much, we begin to believe in it quickly when we are 'in love'.
4. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙜𝙤𝙖𝙡 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙗𝙚 𝙨𝙤 𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙜𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙪𝙣𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙞𝙩 𝙤𝙧 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙖𝙛𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙙. If it's easy, we don't do it. When we step through our fears and do it anyway, we begin to see more of our infinite potential. Fear or discomfort are a BIG GREEN LIGHT for the successful because they are getting ready to grow!
5. 𝘽𝙚 𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙢𝙪𝙘𝙝 𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙮 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝘼𝙉𝘿 𝙗𝙮 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙚𝙫𝙚 𝙞𝙩. Our birthright is Abundance -- there is plenty to go around. Our job is to make ourselves comfortable and we must have a goal that far exceeds what we want for our own comfort. Why? Because by law you must then GIVE BACK. Those who make a lot of money and do not give back -- ultimately LOSE IT.
6. 𝘿𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙚 1 𝙤𝙧 2 𝙨𝙢𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙥𝙨 𝙩𝙤𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙜𝙤𝙖𝙡 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙎𝙏𝘼𝙍𝙏 𝙍𝙄𝙂𝙃𝙏 𝙉𝙊𝙒, 𝙧𝙚𝙜𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙘𝙞𝙧𝙘𝙪𝙢𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙨. It is when we are in 'action' that all the other steps are revealed to us through ideas we get or people we meet.
7. 𝘿𝙤 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙘𝙪𝙨 𝙤𝙣 𝙃𝙊𝙒 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙚𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙜𝙤𝙖𝙡, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙒𝙃𝙔 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙞𝙩. The WHY will have you focus on falling in LOVE with the goal; the HOW will stop you -- "I don't know how to do that," or "how am I going to get the money to do that."
8. 𝙃𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙜𝙤𝙖𝙡 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙥𝙪𝙧𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙚. We all have the same purpose ultimately; that is to serve others. We may not know the vehicle for the service. If we don't then a large exciting financial goal will get you comfortable, have you live abundantly, and your vehicle for purpose will show up during the process.
9. 𝙎𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙜𝙤𝙖𝙡 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙙, 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚. A goal is an idea and is a seed or sorts, which takes time to root and grow into your BELIEF THAT YOU CAN DO IT! If you share it with others who begin to question it, you may find yourself throwing it out as you have second guessed yourself.

There you have it folks -- information that very, VERY few people know about... and even knowing sometimes doesn't mean they will use the information to get the 'best shot' at success! (We don't always do what we 'know' to do, after all.)
Happy goal setting everyone!
