Going alone versus seeking help 🤷♂️
The temptation as humans, is often to solve life's challenges alone. For many, reaching out for help, can feel like you've failed in some capacity and can also be seen as a sign of weakness 😢. So it is understandable why so many people keep doing it alone.
Thankfully, views are slowly changing, however there is still a lot of catching up to do, particularly if we consider how widely adopted coaching and mentoring is utilised in professional sport💡. Find me an elite athlete, who doesn't rely on a coach to help realise their true potential. Even the most successful sports people continue to use a coach - at no point do they decide they are good enough that they can do it all on their own ⭐️.
However, taking that leap and starting to work with a coach is not easy. Perhaps you might be thinking that it would be better to wait until you have more time, or your circumstances are a little different. Often people think that if they just keep going, or just work that bit harder, things might work out in the end 🥵.
I feel it is important to share, that what I am describing, is how I used to be until 4 years ago.
Despite being stuck at a professional crossroads for 4 long painful years, It didn't even occur to me at the time, to seek professional help. And at the time, whilst successful on paper, deep down, I felt like something was missing, and was looking for greater purpose and meaning in my life. Very few people truly understood and logically this made no sense. As a result I would regularly convince myself that things were ok, even when they weren't 😢.
Thankfully when I was approached by a Coach 4 years ago, despite my reservations, my gut was telling me I should say YES, and I am so happy I backed myself 😊.
And a few years on, my views of coaching and mentoring have now completely shifted. As a business owner, I now look at seeking professional help, as a return on investment. Will this individual help me to achieve the results I want quicker or not. This has really simplified things for me.
An additional challenge, if you are contemplating a decision like this, can the sheer number of so “Experts”, some of whom have very little life experience 🤷♂️. It can seem like a bit of a mind field, and can be difficult to know where to turn.

With this in mind, I have a several events coming up, as I genuinely want to help. The first (during the past week) was a short 10 min live event called - 'Working with a coach - Am I ready?' During the event, I shared the 3 critical questions you should ask yourself to help determine if you are ready to work with a coach.
Continuing along this theme, I am excited to be speaking at an interactive LinkedIn live event on 6th March, where I will be joined by several industry experts and we will be exploring how coaching and training can help you to grow and development 💥. The event is called Let's Talk Coaching? If this is interest, you can register via the link below 👇.
During this event we will be tackling some of the questions that we can all pose ourselves at times regarding coaching, to include:
- Am I really coachable?
- Surely, I would only use a coach if I were struggling?
- I know my business better than anyone, and so how could a coach or mentor possibly help me?
If you have considered working with a Coach or Mentor in the recent past, then be sure to register before it it too late 🤩.
Have a fantastic weekend.
