Going the extra mile to serve Humanity!

The Dial 108 service by BVG Maharashtra Emergency Medical Services (MEMS) has been an incredibly fulfilling endeavor, having provided assistance to over 6 lakhs COVID-19 patients since the pandemic began. During a time when even family members were hesitant to help one another, our dedicated BVG team fearlessly supported the victims around the clock. It is this unwavering commitment that has earned them the title of "BVG Yoddhas," true warriors in the face of adversity.

In my previous newsletter, I discussed the remarkable efforts of Maharashtra Emergency Medical Services, widely recognized as Dial 108. It is essential to delve deeper into the exceptional services and acknowledge the dedicated staff working around the clock to ensure the success of this life-saving initiative. This newsletter is particularly special, as it comes straight from the heart, truly "Dil Se."

As I mentioned earlier, the driving force behind this initiative is the sense of moral responsibility to give back to society. To reiterate, Dial 108 is a service provided by BVG India MEMS, offering free medical assistance to those in need. Operating under the Department of Public Health & Family Welfare, Government of Maharashtra and National Health Mission, Maharashtra, BVG MEMS manages the "Dial 108 ambulance service," which delivers first aid and emergency transportation to the nearest government hospital.

Since the inception of BVG MEMS, our dedicated team has served an impressive 87,24,624 patients and has fielded a total of 2,72,44,124 calls. Our emergency response team members are the unsung heroes within the BVG MEMS ecosystem. Upon receiving a call, they swiftly take charge, coordinating with the nearest ambulance to ensure a rapid response for the individual in need.

Saving lives is undoubtedly one of the most significant accomplishments one can achieve in their lifetime. This noble goal was the driving force behind the development of a robust operating model for Maharashtra EMS. Dial 108 ambulances are equipped with world-class equipment, including defibrillators and transport ventilators from Germany, as well as medical-grade oxygen delivery systems from Spain. We take pride in being the first in the country to have ambulances equipped with medical-grade oxygen delivery systems.

For those unfamiliar with medical oxygen, it is a high-purity oxygen used for medical treatments and specifically designed for use in the human body. Medical oxygen cylinders contain only high-purity oxygen gas, with no other gases allowed to prevent contamination. Additionally, we have a backup of five ambulances for each ambulance, ensuring continuous and reliable service.

Understanding that state-of-the-art equipment alone is not enough to ensure the desired impact, we have onboarded qualified doctors who are trained to work in highly stressful conditions. These doctors not only deliver critical care during the golden hour but also maintain constant communication with patients or their caregivers until the ambulance reaches the scene. This proactive approach enables them to evaluate the situation and be prepared to take immediate action upon arrival.

The role of an ambulance driver is crucial in the system, and we ensure they are well-trained and knowledgeable in handling patients. Our MEMS team consists of dedicated Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), Pilots (Ambulance Drivers), and Emergency Response Officers (EROs) who work in harmony to ensure the system operates efficiently and effectively.

BVG India Limited MEMS is wholeheartedly committed to providing assistance during all Indian festivals, ranging from the vibrant Ganpati festival to the spiritual Pandharpur Wari along with Nashik Maha Kumbh Mela. Furthermore, BVG India's #MEMS is taking a significant step by deploying 17 state-of-the-art ambulances along the Samruddhi Expressway. This collaborative effort between the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) and the state Health Department aims to deliver prompt and efficient medical aid to accident victims, thereby enhancing the overall quality of emergency medical services.

In conclusion, I strongly encourage you to join our mission to help others. Inform those around you about #Dial108 and support us in our efforts to save lives.
