The Good News ALWAYS Travels Slowly

Today is Jubilee Day, and it’s a special time for me to reflect on our past and dream about the future. Jubilee Day reminds me that even when things are tough, there’s always hope for a brighter tomorrow. Our ancestors gave us this. We keep going because we believe things will get better.

Facing Our Struggles with Strength

Living in the South, I understand what it’s like to face big challenges.

Our ancestors in Texas had to wait two extra years to be freed from slavery after everyone else was already free. Good news traveled slowly back then, and sometimes it still does. But when it finally arrives, we make sure everyone knows. Real smarties don't gatekeep. Today, I face my own challenges, but I keep pushing through, just like my ancestors did. Every problem I solve makes me stronger.

When I think of Gloria Hallejuah singing about how we love the idea of tomorrow, it gives me hope. Even when things seem really bad, I know that a new day brings new chances. This isn’t just something I hope for; it’s something I’ve seen happen throughout our history. Just like Big Glo, who faced hard times but never stopped fighting, I believe that every new day brings new opportunities.

Jubilee is A Time for Renewal

For me, Jubilee Day is more than just looking back; it’s about looking forward. It’s a day to remember how strong we are and to get excited about what’s next.

Jubilee is about REAL freedom. The freedom to be who we are and chase our dreams. It’s about letting go of doubts and fears and stepping boldly into the future.

Today, I remember that freedom isn’t just a goal at the end. It’s something I work on daily. It’s about breaking free from things that hold me back and believing that every step forward, no matter how small, is a win.

Why I Love Tomorrow

I love tomorrow because it’s full of possibilities. Tomorrow is like a blank page in a book, ready for new stories. It’s a fresh chance to turn my dreams into reality.        

But loving tomorrow isn’t just about waiting for things to get better. It’s about taking action today to make a better tomorrow. Every choice I make today shapes my future. This means I can take control and work towards the changes I want to see.

When I say I love tomorrow, it’s not because I want to forget about today. It’s because I want to use today to make tomorrow even better. This mix of hope and action keeps me moving forward, making each day a step closer to the life I want.

Together We Rise

I know I’m not alone in wanting a better future. I’m part of a community that has faced tough times and come out stronger. I draw strength from those who have come before me. I understand that my struggles are part of a bigger story, and every person’s effort is important.

As I face my own problems, I rely on my community. Our shared dreams and strength lift me up. Together, we move forward, believing that by working together, we can create a brighter tomorrow.

Looking Ahead

On this Jubilee Day, I celebrate not just how far we’ve come, but how far we can go. I honor the spirit of those who inspire me by continuing to be strong and hopeful. The challenges I face today might be tough, but they are also steps along my journey.

As I look to the future, I feel hopeful and ready to take action. I see tomorrow as a promise, not just a dream. Because even if good news takes time, the journey that shapes me, makes me stronger and leads me to the freedom I seek.

So, here’s to our future’s freedom.

Here’s to tomorrow, with all its possibilities.

And here’s to us, facing today’s struggles with faith that a better day is on the way.
