Good Society?
A cloud chased our boat today...

Good Society?

I've written about this over the years and lately I've been thinking a lot about the issues surrounding this, and all paradigm shifts where what we knew ran out of steam, so to speak.

For example:

In Towns Already Hit by Steel Mill Closings, a New Casualty: Retail Jobs

By RACHEL ABRAMS and ROBERT GEBELOFF

"Thousands of workers face unemployment as retailers struggle to adapt to online shopping. But even as e-commerce grows, it isn't absorbing these workers."

Now we've known this is coming, even caused by the jumpstart, the internet is still getting free from a lot of taxes.

However, not everyone can startup, run, and be successful like I and many others did.

Cutting to the chase:

Does a good society realize this is "bound to happen" and find ways to help the transitions, or does it remain... we told you so; or everyone saw it coming; why didn't you learn to build websites; or better yet, you could have changed your skill set?

ALL these issues root in Capability which is multi-faceted to say the least...and all branch through BIAS, STYLE, LEVEL, ROLE, VALUES and SYSTEM DYNAMICS.

Yet, if a good society is governed with blank slate, then the goodness stops and starts with the individual’s effort... the ONLY one of DEMING's 5 factors of performance which is "controllable" by that individual.

But Deming, et al, were wrong. Not even effort is within control of the individual, so the 5 factors of performance are not in the perched of individual control but merely a lottery system; and we are using it at high cost to society because we are stuck with outdated algorithms, beliefs, and assumptions.

A GOOD Society is dependent on your POV, and nothing else... and the dominant POV — which is the "contest" today — makes up the winners and the losers.

It seems a GOOD SOCIETY should be, do, have, become, and contribute more than that... to me.
