Gothic architecture in the Cantabrian Sea

It never stopped growing and developing: from the distant times when the Roman legions tore down the altars where the druids appeased the wrath of the seas to place their own in honour of the omnipotent Jupiter and settle on the shores of its rustic port, to those medieval times when they became one of the most important towns in the area.

Flourishing times that saw the activation of an economy and trade, which also flourished with the arrival of hundreds, thousands of pilgrims, who, disembarking in this and other ports of the Cantabrian Sea, began their transcendental adventure, travelling, like skilled bees, the intricate paths of that metaphorical hive of art and design, which, after all, has always been the Saint James Way.

Many offered their backs and their knowledge to continue to illuminate the cultural beacons of a world in surprising evolution, bringing with them the astonishing skills of a new and wonderful art, the Gothic, whose testimony, raising its superb pillars towards the stars, continues to cause admiration to the amazed travelers of today.
