Grab the Grey

Grab the Grey

I had A LOT to do this morning…

Not how I would usually choose to spend a Sunday morning but these days happen, where the weekend to-do list just can’t be helped.

Part of my daily sanity is a rebounding session, but I knew if I fitted in my usual length routine, there was no way the rest of the morning would go as planned.

I also knew that the impact, either way, would have a domino effect on my day. With so little time, perhaps it wouldn’t be worth it.

See-saw mind…

Back and forth decisions…

Ten minutes… Just ten minutes…

It wasn’t what I had planned, or wanted, or exactly enough to be the duration my mind told me my body needed. But I grabbed the grey.

Ten minutes of bouncing was better than nothing. It’s how life goes…

Too often, if we can’t go the distance for long enough, perfectly enough, or well enough, we abandon the journey entirely, and along with it the potential benefits that wait patiently in the pieces of grey.

In the imperfect moments

Maybe you can’t get out of the house today, just sit under a tree in your garden.

Maybe you can’t palate the green juice, just nibble the apple.

Maybe you don’t have time for the hour-long workout, take a fifteen-minute walk instead.

Maybe you can’t be the Pinterest mom (honestly, who can?), just play a round of UNO with your kids.

Maybe you can’t run for president and root out all corruption, start by greeting the fuel attendant.

Something is always better than nothing.

And something always holds the potential to make a profound difference regardless. Black-or-white, all-or-nothing thinking only leads to guilt, exhaustion and deep unhappiness

Life seldom goes according to plan.

In fact, the detours it throws us unexpectedly often uproot us completely…

It’s likely grey isn’t what you wanted.

It’s likely grey isn’t what you envisioned.

It’s likely grey is the most twisted detour you ever thought you’d have to take.

But here you are.

This, here, is what you’ve got to choose from.

Before you completely abandon the journey, remember, there’s goodness in grey too.

Today, I grabbed the grey. I bounced hard for ten minutes.

And today, all I had to give, was good enough.

Grab the grey.

The messy, the unexpected, the uncomfortable, the chaotic, and the unplanned.

It’s waiting.

Life expectations aren’t often dished up on silver platters. Don’t let that prevent you from partaking at all.

You can’t wait for perfection before you decide to live.

If all you have is grey, then grey is enough.

There’s beauty in the grey.

There’s life in the grey.

And there are undiscovered memories just waiting to be made.

Grab the grey.
