A Great Leader doesn't have to excel at everything - except empathy
It amazes me how much pressure people put on themselves in life. I'm not talking about fighting for your next promotion. Or even learning to play football and score the most goals in a season. I am talking about the need to have more heart in your emotional intelligence.
People often say that I wear my heart on my sleeve, and I agree - that's pretty true. I love helping people, and that is what I am here for. Yes, I consider myself a Servant Leader and will always strive to learn new skills not just for me, but also to share with others.
That was one of the core reasons I become a teacher to help others, and also the inspiration I got from my mother.
I think that the modern age we live now with generation Z - we simply need more Empathy to calm the surface of all the stress. And to further establish Empathy Leadership Development Training.
It is pretty bad the world we live now, where so many of us, suffer long term depression and contemplate to want to end our lives. Please do not go there - this is the dark side of force. Stay with me until the end of this article, and I will share some truths about life - not just from a growing expert in emotional intelligence but, also some of the lessons I learned from lived experiences.
The first lesson that I want to share with you is learn to be more empathetic towards your own pain.
You know I shared yesterday’s article on the wind - as I worked during the day and was a little tired. I was not sure what to do with The Empathy Magazine in last night’s issue.
I did a random peace and it performed really, really bad. it got the least number of views on any other article I had written.
And I will be totally honest with you. It upset me - not the fact that I got low views - I mean I was upset the fact that I might of upset my audience.
Thus, I did some reflection and said to conscious self - look Steve - although your building brand awareness around The Empathy Magazine you`re not always going to get it right.
I am sure not creating a magazine that wants to hurt people, thus, I took value in that conversation to myself. Now, as I sit here tonight on Saturday evening at the end of another long week - I feel at ease because - I write better based on my lived experiences - not always my thought leadership - where I read a tremendous amount of Psychology every week.
Sometimes - it can indeed become too much. Thus, I need to know that it is ok for me to fail a little sometimes like the article view performance. I should be comfortable around that notion, and not get anxious around feeling guilty as my content writing is designed to help others. Thus, there should be no shame in that.

So, Let’s move deeper into a more profound talk on setting out a learning curriculum for winning with Empathy for improved Leadership Performance.
Only late last night I created a slide deck that you can see on my profile discussing in brief some of the core principles of Empathy for enhanced Leadership Development.
My FIRST STEP was titled: Focus on Learning Empathy - which is definitely profound if taken the right journey and framework.

I feel the only real way Leadership Development can improve in the future of work is to build science around understanding it. Moreover, notions of Empathy in Action and Empathy Driving Innovation becomes more than just a buzz word.
It becomes a whole new learning skills for employability skills.
Then we start to understand really what is means to have great mental health through the science of Empathy in human emotional understanding.
Next I move onto designing a suitable framework of learning about Empathy. This is going to be very unique to you and I am certainly not going to tell you exactly how to do this.
Its a choice you need to make alone, and one that you should take your time with.
However you decide to grow your Empathy Leadership Practice (ELP) make sure you do enough reflective practice to ensure the maximum learning opportunities.
Moving on swifty to STEP 2: Create a Reflective Practice Mindset that works for you.
This step is just important as the first, and similar to what I just mentioned in terms of first take your time building the mindset then design it to how you feel.
I think that there are too many researchers and thought leaders out there going through instructions how you should wear your clothes and think - you`re got to find your own mark and enjoy the process. So do yourself a favour and enjoy the making of the new YOU - THE EMPATHETIC LEADER.
During step 2 one thing I would add is learn to make notes even just mentally, and take as much time as needed because it’s all you driving this Leadership Development Performance not the firm.
You should also adapt how you reflect in different situations to increase your Empathy Training.
Now that you`re got some Empathy Science Training and knowledge under your belt and built your reflecting practice model of learning - you need to increase the practices of doing Empathy.
This only happens as part of STEP 3; KEEP BUILDING LEADERSHIP PRACTICES.
"You don`t have to be a leader in a Business to grow your own Leadership Development Practice - so look for opportunties at work to put yourself forward or do some extra volunteering to really engage in the science of learning to be an Empathy Led Leader." Stephen Fahey
You should really start to enjoy the last step and be encouraged that you`re still learning about yourself.
