Grow up, Kids !

Parenthood is the biggest blessing for mankind. When we hold our children in our arms the first time, life takes a different dimension and the beautiful relationship that we created as husband and wife becomes Mum & Dad. Our children become the centre of our lives and we see the world through their eyes, we hear stories through their ears and we create our journeys ahead with them in mind.

Our children then grown up, bit by bit ready to step into the world and begin their own journeys. Is it not strange then how, the same children who held our little finger and learnt to walk, start pointing their fingers at us? Somewhere in the process of their growing up, we grow old and become a father/ mother and a friend for them.

Somewhere between being a Father and a Friend, our children forget that they were born out of us and not the other way around. When I grew up, we were taught to respect our parents and hence, we always treated our father as a father... we never crossed the line to become his friend.

But today's millennial generation wants us to be their friend and yet be their father to provide. This is just not possible! How can anyone execute two different roles, something somewhere is bound to get lost in the process. Either the father loses out or the friend.

Hence, understand and look beyond what meets the eye! Either treat your father as a father, who is your provider and respect him OR if you want a friend treat him like one, and in return, be prepared to be treated like one, folks!

Time to grow up, kids !
