A guide to CPA Exam Pass Rates 2024
The AICPA releases pass rates for each section of the CPA exam every quarter. The pass rate is typically released 2-3 weeks after every quarter's end. The most recent data on CPA pass rates is processed quickly by Universal CPA Review, which also provides a detailed analysis of the patterns.
What impact do the most recent pass rate trends have on a prospective CPA? Yes, to some extent. To determine the effect on exam performance, the trends by section can be compared to the most recent changes made to the CPA exam. To make sure that the course content is most closely matched with the topics that CPA candidates will be tested on, Universal CPA Review uses this data in conjunction with student feedback.
CPA Exam Pass Rates 2024 Predictions
The distribution of pass rate information for 2024 was delayed due to the new CPA Exam scheduled for debut in 2024 and the postponement of score releases. Since the exam is brand-new in 2024, applicants might have to wait to take the exams. Learn all about the changes in the CPA course from our Co-founder Mr. Sripal Jain!
Pass rates for the core subjects of FAR, REG, and AUD might increase for those taking the tests, while AUD might remain the same. This is due to the removal of certain content from the FAR and REG and the AUD exam being mostly the same as in 2023. The disciplines' pass rates (BAR, ISC, and TCP) may match the 40–45% pass rates in 2023, but that's just speculation. Considering that they most likely choose the discipline-based primarily on their skill set, candidates should be fairly prepared for the tests. Core CPA Exam Pass Rates (2024)
1. Core Exam Section (AUD):
Candidates for the AUD CPA Exam noted a 4.7% drop in Q1'24 compared to their 2023 total performance. Since most of the substance has not changed, the format for the Audit 2024 CPA Exam is the most similar to previous years' formats. The one portion with significant subjectivity in the answer options is the AUD CPA Exam section, which is still very conceptual.
The decline in AUD CPA Exam results in Q1 of 2024 may be due to various factors. This could most likely be because of the modifications made to the new CPA Exam testing windows. There are high chance that CPA candidates have trouble settling into a routine and selecting the best study strategy before starting their exams this year. Finding a good CPA review course that enables you to fully understand the audit engagement flow is highly recommended.

2. Core Exam Section (FAR):
Candidates for the FAR CPA Exam noticed a slight improvement in their scores from their total performance of 42.12% in 2023 to the first quarter score release in 2024. The total amount of content tested on the FAR CPA Exam in 2024 is smaller than in previous years. This part of the core CPA Exam has been replaced with the new BAR discipline segment, which contains the toughest material from the FAR section of the CPA Exam. Keep checking back because we still think that an increase in FAR CPA Exam scores is just a matter of time.
3. Core Exam Section (REG):
In Q1, 2024, the scores on the REG part of CPA test increased by a whopping 6%. Since a large portion of the information in this segment of the CPA Exam has been transferred to the new discipline subject of TCP, REG scores are probably going to stay higher. It's crucial to locate a CPA review course that simplifies the tax-heavy REG part into a manageable, bite-sized style.
Discipline CPA Exam Pass Rates (2024)
1. Discipline Exam (BAR):
In the first quarter of 2024, BAR recorded the lowest CPA Exam results. This test covers a lot of advanced financial reporting material, which makes it most similar to the FAR section. However, it also covers a lot of managerial accounting material. Because of its significant math content, this exam will be among the more difficult discipline portions to pass.
2. Discipline Exam (ISC):
About 51% of ISC's CPA Exam candidates passed in the first quarter of 2024. Out of the three, this discipline is undoubtedly the most distinct and contains the fewest topics related to the section of the Audit Core CPA Exam that comes before it. Since the fewest CPA Exam candidates took this section in Q1 of 2024, it is still too early to predict with any degree of accuracy what the discipline section's future pass rates will be.
3. Discipline Exam (TCP):
Amongst all the CPA Exam sections, the TCP section got the most uneven scores. It's reasonable to believe that the exact CPA Exam pass rates are still unknown, given the astounding 82.36% pass rate in the first quarter of 2024.
Conclusion:
Don't be alarmed by the substandard performance of thousands of applicants! Regardless of the trends, have faith in your own CPA Exam preparation to help you pass the exam.
Determining the CPA Exam pass rates in the new CPA Evolution format is still far too early. An exceptionally low number of CPA Exam candidates sat for any of the discipline sections in Q1 of 2024, and very few candidates took the exams. In summary, it is still far too early to predict the actual pass rates for the CPA Exam for both 2024 and the years that follow. So, work hard and rock your CPA exams!
