The Gunners fire blanks at the Emirates
Two sides with a 100% record so far in the league, faced off in North London for a chance to maintain their winning run. Ultimately fate did have a role to play, as both teams despite remaining unbeaten, will lose their invincibility in the league.
The Gunners began the game with greater optimism and took the lead in the first half with a swift move that started from Keeper David Raya, which carved an opportunity for Bakayo Saka and Kai Harvetz to combine for the game's first goal. This was the second game this season, that the duo have combined to score a stunning team goal.
The game seemed to go according to plan for the Gunners in the first half, but the numerous chances spurned by Arsenal came back to hunt them. Just like Manchester United paid for wasting good chances in front of the goal, Arsenal was about to be pegged back by the relentless Seagulls.
Declan Rice’s needless second yellow card early in the second half didn’t help matters with the Gunners conceding 8 minutes right after Rice sending off. Going down to 10 men in this end-to-end match didn’t help Arteta’s men, but Brighton took their chance when it mattered most, and could have easily won the game but for the heroics of Raya.
Brighton left North London with their unbeaten run under new manager, Fabian Hürzeler firmly intact. Two tough battles against perennial Top 4 Titans left the high-flying Seagulls cruising through the storm without a feather out of place. The Gunners tried to ground the Seagulls, but it turns out birds are surprisingly slippery on the pitch!
