halow project newsletter May 2023
Congratulations and thank you Halow250!
Thank you and congratulations to everyone who participated in and supported the #PERFECT10 Halow250 - including our young people who cycled the last mile!
With your brilliant support, your fundraised and pledged monies raised £170,000 for halow project this year, bringing the final total over the past 10 events to over £1million! We are so grateful for your terrific fundraising efforts, all the hard work you put into the ride, and for raising awareness to support our wonderful young people.
Huge thanks to George and Mark at 2Boats Events for the phenomenal amount of time put into organising the Halow250, and the wonderful crew. It has been a fantastic 10 events that have brought people together in an epic challenge to raise money for our charity.
Thank you also to the 2023 event sponsors: Young's Pubs; Sykes & Son; MotorLux & Mazda UK; Branding Science; Inoplas; Frank Reynolds Architects; The Boathouse Guildford; Purple Sector; üutensil; Litecup; and GM Recruitment. Without you, this event just wouldn’t have been possible!
Our young people also got involved - taking on their very own cycling challenge with the support of Wheels For All.
Building Futures got together at Woking Sports Box with the aim of cycling 250 laps of the full-size track. They fantastically surpassed this goal and completed 537 laps! This is a total of 133.5 miles - over half the Halow250.
The young people also used this as a fundraising opportunity, through both sponsorship forms and donations through JustGiving. So far, they have raised £805, with more to come in.
The Damon Hill Festival of Karting
halow project is proud to present its revamped annual karting event with our patron and co-founder, former F1 world champion Damon Hill. Enter your team to race and raise money for halow on Wednesday 21 June 2023, from 1pm at Daytona Motorsport, Sandown.
With a more extensive trackside experience on offer, racers and guests alike will relax in the new Pitstop Lounge. The classic 2.5 hour Le Mans-style endurance race can be viewed from here in comfort and delicious refreshments are served. Stars and experts from the world of racing will be in conversation on the Pitstop Lounge stage throughout the afternoon and evening.
In addition, there will be some very special vehicles on display which relate to Damon and Graham Hill’s racing careers. This includes Damon’s winning Williams Renault FW18 from his 1996 triumph, and the Nissan RC90K which took pole position at the 1990s Le Mans race in the expert hands of Mark Blundell – plus another surprise superstar car.

We are delighted to present our first Impact Report. This is a exciting way for us to share the impact our charity has made on the people we supported during 2022.
The report is a celebration of the people we support, their achievements and how we have facilitated these. It also shares how you - our local community and corporate supporters - play a key role enabling halow’s work to nurture their independence.

Corporate volunteers building futures
A huge thank you to volunteers from NEO Energy, who helped build a shed at our Building Futures allotment. They were absolutely amazing and came back with good humour and a real passion to get the shed built.
We can’t thank them enough; they made the whole experience very enjoyable and have provided a fantastic asset for Building Futures.
In addition, NEO Energy team members Steve, Steve and Dave took part in the Halow250, raising an amazing £8,107 between them. To add to their achievement the ‘two Steves’ gave themselves the additional challenge of riding a tandem for the first time!
