Handling High Conflict Conversations

Conflict is inevitable in business.

But how you handle it can make or break your team.

Here’s a guide to resolving conflicts effectively:

1. Empathy is Key:

• Start with understanding, not judgment.

• Show you care about their feelings.

2. Ask the Right Questions:

• Dig deeper to uncover hidden issues.

• Focus on understanding their perspective.

3. De-escalate Emotions:

• Keep calm and composed.

• Separate the issue from the person.

4. Agree on Actionable Steps:

• Create a plan to resolve the conflict.

• Follow up to ensure the issue is resolved.

Use these strategies to turn conflicts into opportunities for growth. Lead with empathy and clarity.

Your team will thank you.

Until next time,

Peter

Used this approach last year in a team disagreement, and it completely changed the way we handled conflict. The breakthrough came when we both felt heard and focused on finding common ground.
