Mom is braiding my baby bro's hair.

I have a cold so I'm taking organic elderberry lozenges.

It's cloudy — 38 degrees here in New York.

Let's talk about what happened on Tuesday.

------------------------------

I was speaking at a LinkedIn Live audio event on Tuesday, April 2nd.

It was about community trust via comments.

The last time I spoke at a LinkedIn Live audio event as a speaker:

October 14th, 2022.

This means 1 year and 5 months and 20 days.

Or 17 months.

It was horrible.

The host made mistakes on the banner.

They didn't do their research.

The questions asked were so poor, I looked up the answers on Google.

Here's an example:

6. What is customer success associate mean?

You can Google the answer in a second.

It was so bad, I swore off speaking for over a year.

April 2nd, 2024 was different.

Working with a host I knew made a difference.

She promoted the event.

Allowed feedback to improve.

Made a post about it and tagged me.

She adjusted the time since we were in different time zones.

You can tell things were well received.

She did her homework.

One example was when she mentioned I wrote 126 LinkedIn articles.

She's right.

Even mentioned the 95/5 strategy.

Did you know this was her first time hosting a LinkedIn Live audio event?

Here's the thing:

Both of us were nervous.

I had a bad experience.

She was hosting the event for the first time.

What you didn't know:

I had a cold the entire time while speaking at the event.

Still have the sniffles while typing this.

At one moment, 46 people listened.

Wasn't expecting 40 people.

Both of us did well.

The host asked questions and made statements.

I was clear and an open book about my LinkedIn journey.

She wants to do it again.

This time with Q&A.

It takes the right host to bring the best in you.

P.S. Have you ever spoken at a LinkedIn Live audio event?
