Happiness Within

Always seeking,

Special something,

Ever elusive, 

A wisp away.

Unsure why,

Slight unease or maybe more,

Hard to fathom,

What to buy.

Finding fortune,

Fames acclaim,

A boy, a girl,

Someone to have and hold.

Aqua vitae,

Life of the party,

A spritz, a brew,

Or perhaps that espresso martini will do.

-

Adventure and excitement,

Climbing higher,

Diving deep,

Nothing seems to last.

-

Chasing rainbows,

A treasure or perhaps,

The Holy Grail,

Will be found at last.

-

Events turn, 

Relationships break,

Rags to riches,

A round trip burn.

-

Waking up,

Breaking up,

Failed again,

Regrets mailed.

-

Finally seeing,

Hidden deep inside,

Underneath it all,

An unhappy being.

-

Examining closely,

Deep pain abides,

Stories I told,

Having their hold.

-

Finally awakening,

False narratives abound,

What once caused fear,

Dissolves without a sound.

It turns out,

My prison and chains,

Self inflicted pains,

No longer remain.

-

Forgiveness transmutes,

Dark energy to light,

Opening a heart,

So long out of sight.

-

No man or woman,

No gold or glamour,

No adventure or thing,

Has anything to enamor.

Loving Self,

Life’s smiling face again,

Rediscovering God’s grace,

Happiness within.
