HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

Having an attitude of gratitude is the essence of the Spirit of Thanksgiving. It’s about shifting your focus from what you are lacking and wanting in life to counting the blessings that you already have. Gratitude changes everything. Check out THINK LIKE A MONK by Jay Shetty if you are looking for a GOOD READ. His chapter on gratitude is my favorite chapter and very timely.

In today’s do-it-all culture, we are all such busy mom’s, dad’s, workers, even kids, it’s hard to step back and take a minute to reflect. Hopefully during this Thanksgiving holiday week, you get a chance to do that. Life is stressful especially during the current crisis and constantly changing rules/regulations. Our friends and our family are our shock absorbers, they are the air bags of life, and we are the shock absorbers for those that we love as well. A stress-free life is non-existent. The US has become a workaholic nation. We have less paid leave time than many other countries.  Clarity around what we want is directly related to being thankful for what we already have.

In addition to being thankful for what we already have, another key to dealing with stress is positive relationships. And if need be, stop, and ask for help! That’s what friends and family are for. Avoid striving for perfection. Don’t try to get rid of stress, learn to deal with stress better and count on those around you. You also need to be there for the ones you care about as well. Often people suffering from ill-health, it’s not what they are eating, but what’s eating them.

Willie Nelson – “When I started counting my blessings, my whole life turned around…”

The Dalai Lama – “We need to learn to want what we have and not have what we want to enjoy stable happiness.”
