Have you ever wondered how H2020 funding can impact your company?

As we commemorate International Cancer Day on February 4th, we highlight a visionary company pushing boundaries in the fight against cancer metastasis. The HYPOSENS H2020 Project , backed by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, has developed a prototype of a cutting-edge device that might offer a more reliable and less invasive solution for real-time metastatic breast cancer detection.

The current diagnostic process for metastatic cancer patients requires surgery, which is costly and highly invasive. The Hyposens team was determined to relieve patients from the excessive suffering caused by traditional, invasive methods.

Hyposens' innovative technology leverages the power of bio-compatible nano-capsules, which anchor precisely to metastatic tumor cells thanks to a specific antibody coated on its surface, and a dual internal sensor system to accurately determine temperature and oxygen levels through an external imaging device. This analysis of metabolic parameters might help assess cancer's aggressiveness and improve patient stratification.

With its ease of use and non-invasive approach, Hyposens promises to revolutionize cancer diagnosis, delivering a fast, low-cost, safe, high-resolution, and sensitive solution that might be a game-changer in the fight against metastatic breast cancer.

Thanks to the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation grant, the Hyposens consortium developed a preclinical prototype that could bring the technology to 1 of 8 women impacted by breast cancer in Europe.
