He lives.

He lives.

There is an old church hymn called He lives we used to sing in church, but you don't hear it much anymore as it seems contemporary music is popular nowadays, I like the theological hymns based that explore God’s character and our relationship with Him in great depth.  I still remember the words as they are truth and power. I serve a risen Savior, He's in the world today; I know that He is living, whatever men may say; I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer, and just the time I need Him, He's always near. He lives, he lives Christ Jesus lives today! He walks with me and talks with me along life's narrow way. He lives, He lives, salvation to impart! You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart! The hymn is about the Holy Spirit of God. I would not want to know where I would be without Him. He lights up my steps so He can guide me. He makes it so I am comforted and encouraged in times of discouragement. He is my advocate and defender; He is the Holy Spirit of God. He will never leave me or forsake me. There is nothing that I can do or can't do to cause the Holy Spirit to not dwell in me. He empowers me to make it so that I can be what I cannot be in my own power and in my own strength The Holy Spirit gives me fruit, so that when my patience has run out, the Holy Spirit gives me an extension of patience for that person or situation which I have no more patience for. The Holy Spirit gives me the fruit of gentleness when my gentleness has long since gone. He gives me self-discipline so that I can restrain myself when I want to act out in my flesh. But the Holy Spirit gives more than fruit.  The Holy Spirit has gifts He gives freely, so that those things that might seem just to be natural talent, now they edify the body of Christ. The Holy Spirit works and speaks through us to build people up, to break yolks. To loosen shackles from people's lives. To speak life and introduce people to Jesus. Because we have been given the gift of the Holy Spirit of God not only for ourselves, but to share with others. In closing, I can remember singing this Hymn in my dad’s church growing up and have it to memory. What a wonderful song and even more wonderful truth? It is truly what the Gospel is all about, the hope that we should tell the world about, “He Lives.” Let us pray that this very hope brings us strength and guidance as we live out his grace and truth so that the world may see Jesus Christ in us. We all live in uncertainty, it seems especially at this moment in time, we all have times of anxiety and anguish. Furthermore, and more importantly, we also all have hope and a certain future because we, too, are in God’s hands! Friends, hold fast to the assurance that we can all face uncertain days because Jesus lives! Make it a great day for yourself and someone else as we live to love and share Jesus with others.

Romans 6: 4

“We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.

Romans 6: 17- 23

But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.

For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.

What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.

But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
