The Healing Power of Words: An Exclusive Interview with Poet Adedayo Adeniji

In a world constantly evolving with challenges and triumphs, the power of words has never been more significant. I recently had the pleasure of interviewing the exceptional poet and spiritual guide, Adedayo Adeniji, known to her followers as Dayo. Our conversation delved into the intricate blend of spirituality, poetry, and the inspiration behind her unique voice.

A Journey from Silence to Voice

Dayo’s poetic journey began in her early teens, inspired by the natural world and the complexities of human experience. “I started writing poems about creation, the weather, the birds, the grass,” she shared. But it was more than just observing nature; it was about understanding life’s deeper meanings and expressing them through the written word.

Her spiritual awakening came when she encountered the Holy Bible. “I couldn’t put it down,” she said, reflecting on how scripture influenced her poetry. For Dayo, each poem is not just a piece of art but a spiritual journey, transforming divine wisdom into verses that resonate with her readers.

The Inspiration Behind the Words

Dayo draws inspiration from various sources—creation, people overcoming adversity, and the teachings of Jesus Christ. Her faith has been a guiding light, helping her connect with her readers on a profound level. She finds beauty in unexpected places, like the courage of Paralympians and the resilience of those who have faced great hardships.

One of the most poignant moments in our interview was when she spoke about her poetic tribute to Nelson Mandela. “He survived years in prison without seeking revenge. That kind of strength, that’s God-like,” she said. Her admiration for those who transform pain into peace is evident in her work.

Poetry as a Tool for Healing

Dayo’s poetry is more than just words on a page; it’s a form of healing. Her collections, such as “Deja Vu: God Loves You, Not Impossible,” are inspired by the struggles and triumphs she has witnessed. “I wrote this book to show people that there is always a way to overcome,” she explained. Each poem serves as a reminder that despite life’s challenges, there is always hope and a path to healing.

Breaking the Boundaries of Expression

When asked about her future goals, Dayo shared her desire to bring her poetry to a broader audience. “I want to market my books more, write more songs and poems, and get rid of this impostor syndrome,” she said. Her journey is not just about personal growth but also about helping others find their voice.

A Message of Hope

Dayo’s message is simple yet profound: “God loves you. Don’t give up.” Her work is a testament to the transformative power of faith and resilience. Whether you are struggling with self-doubt, seeking spiritual connection, or simply looking for inspiration, Dayo’s poetry offers a guiding light.

As we concluded our interview, it was clear that Dayo’s work is not just about poetry; it’s about creating a space where people can feel seen, heard, and loved. Her words are a beacon of hope in a world that often feels disconnected and chaotic.

That's absolutely true, words are frequencies, and life is made of different ranges of frequencies. So why not ensure what kind of energy we project with our words?

Very insightful! She simply started to write how she sees the world, and it connects with so many others because it resonates. We are of one mind, but each have different perspectives and to share those perspectives allows each of us to grow individually. Turning pain into peace is so much more rewarding than feeding the anger. Anger feels powerful yes, but it is short lived in comparison to seeking peace! A great article! I'll take a listen when next in the car ^_^
